2K Sports has managed to avoid addressing the topic of downloadable content even after the plans for NBA 2K12's were discovered a while back. The latest patch on the PS3 however (which is supposed to improve online but has done so to little result) has further exposed the DLC by adding nine trophies that are specific to it. Presumably the Xbox 360 will have these very same achievements tied to the DLC when it arrives. The trophies lay out more of what to expect when the paid DLC releases a...

The patch that hit for the 360 yesterday was supposed to fix some of the connection issues plaguing NBA 2K12 since its release. The entirety of online play has been a disaster of course - but clearing up some of the disconnects would have represented a decent step towards necessary larger scale improvement. Unfortunately the patch has in some ways made the online experience even worse.  (more…)...

2K Sports has pushed through a patch for NBA 2K12 already - the sudden announcement and arrival a surprise considering the game released only nine days ago and no indications had been made that one was in the pipeline. Because of the time crunch though it meant the patch would be limited in scale and 2K has tried to dampen expectations by stating it's main (or maybe only) goal was to address the many disconnects occurring in online games. The patch is out for the Xbox 360 and expected on ...

It was always going to be difficult to top what was practically universally beloved in NBA 2K11 - and the league lockout only introduced an additional obstacle in the way of doing so. NBA 2K12 is one of the most top heavy sports titles imaginable. What it does well is exceedingly impressive but faulty features or those that dont live up to potential do enough damage to affect the overall perception and complete value of the product. Continue on for a look at what NBA 2K12 got right and where...

Whether the NBA season returns this year, next year, or at some other undetermined point in the future there will be a number of new alternate and ABA throwback uniforms debuting. Thanks to NLSC (via Uni Watch) the new designs that were set to appear this year were discovered. These were cracked - they will be/would have been made available with a code to unlock them at a later date. Included in the bunch are alternates for the Heat, Kings, Raptors, Clippers, Grizzlies, Bobcats, Sixers, a...
  • NBA 2K12 Impressions: Online Play

It has now been a full week since NBA 2K12 arrived - plenty of time to iron out standard online play issues the accompany the typical release frame. It is especially worrisome then that online play has yet to see marked improvement. Server issues, lag/disconnects, and removed features all add up to arguably the worst online experience for a major sports title in recent memory.  (more…)...
  • NBA 2K12 Impressions: My Player

2K Sports has spent a great deal of effort hyping up the improvements to My Player mode for NBA 2K12. While there are a few worthwhile additions there are numerous fundamental flaws that are impossible to ignore. My Player remains one of the better career modes in sports gaming considering what it attempts but the on-court experience is still lacking and the trade logic is beyond troubled marring the overall experience significantly.  (more…)...

There is no doubt what mode shines this year for NBA 2K12 - not just in concept but also in execution. NBA's Greatest mode delivers some fantastic historic teams in a setting representative of their day. In a year marred by the league lockout it successfully energizes the product while continuing to educate fans.  (more…)...
