For the second straight year Association mode in NBA 2K has taken a back seat to other initiatives. With NBA 2K13 the focus has shifted to developing MyTeam mode while continuing to build on MyCareer (previously known as MyPlayer). The reasoning for lack of advancement back with 2K12 related to incorporating Online Association so a number of additions couldn't be implemented at the same time...unfortunately OA was tragically flawed making that trade-off a bust. This year however it appears p...

When 2K Sports crafted MyTeam mode, which is essentially an Ultimate Team clone, there was no question the motivations behind doing so. The company has been slow to implement sustained digital revenue streams and previous attempts at DLC (Draft Combine, Legends Showcase) were poorly planned and ultimately unsuccessful ventures. They're hoping that changes this year with features integrated in such a manner that the motivation and consumer interest will be there to support them with additiona...

2K Sports made a push to include celebrities and sports personalities within NBA 2K13 primarily for the Twitter feed in MyCareer mode but some will also be featured on a dedicated 'Celebrity' team. It's unclear if the team will have any use beyond simple Play Now games or if it may be part of the All-Star Weekend content. The team features a lineup of Justin Bieber, JB Smoove, Wale, Bow Wow, Chamillionaire, Sean Kingston, Meek Mill, Vinny and Pauly D from Jersey Shore, Mac Miller, and B...

The demo for NBA 2K13 is out now on the Xbox 360 (can be queued up for download here) and as of this afternoon arrived on the PS3 as well. 2K Sports has chosen to make this an especially intriguing demo by including head-to-head online play. Featuring...
