NBA 2K13 didn't only release on consoles this past week as a mobile version also arrived for the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and select higher-end Android tablets and phones. The game features the soundtrack chosen by Jay-Z, "NBA's Greatest Games" mode and a season mode, multiplayer through Game Center or Bluetooth, and classic or one-finger control schemes. Reviews have not been kind as the game is crashing for many before it even loads up. The problem has been acknowledged and is apparent...

2K Sports has a history of trouble, particularly online-related, with the NBA 2K series during each year's respective release week. Generally online has been the high profile culprit but widespread freezing in various modes or other bugs have arisen early on that required immediate attention. In starting to pull together impressions on the game outside of one issue in MyCareer mode it has become clear that NBA 2K13 has avoided many of the pitfalls of year's past. (more…)...

One generally overlooked aspect of sports titles, where the in and out of games can result in significant time spent waiting around, is the efficiency in loading times. Series like NCAA Football and MLB: The Show have suffered tremendously due to extensive loading times. NBA 2K, on the other hand, has been extremely crisp in recent years. That is the case yet again with NBA 2K13 which has brisk loading times and still even benefits some from being installed on the Xbox 360 hard drive.  (...

With the offseason additions of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard the Los Angeles Lakers enter NBA 2K13 as the top rated team in the game. Despite winning the championship and adding Ray Allen the Miami Heat don't hold the top spot but come in at number two instead which is sure to incite debate. The Thunder follow behind at three while the Bulls, presumably with Derrick Rose factoring in despite his injury, enter as the fourth highest team. With the release of NBA 2K13 today content was added for the game on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and there are a couple of new arrivals that previously had not been discussed. It was already known that "VC" (the unit of currency for building MyPlayers and MyTeams) could be purchased. However there are additional options available to choose from now as well. The most interesting of the bunch is a Spanish broadcast team featuring Antoni Daimiel and Sixto Miguel Serrano from Canal+ along with Jorg...

Though Association has faded into the background as 2K Sports pushes advancements with other modes it was going to be absolutely necessary to at least make Online Association, introduced in 2K12 but in a practically unusable state, functional at a minimum for 2K13. Improvements include the ability to reset game results, adjust sliders, sim games with a team predetermined as a winner, and pause the league's advancement clock. Continue on to check out a video of a user flipping through Onli...

Though 2K Sports was much more aggressive in releasing information on NBA 2K13 than they have been with the series in the past one area that wasn't as active was the display of unedited gameplay footage. With 2K13 out in the wild a large number of videos have started to surface. Continue on for a sampling of standard games as well as the Dream Team, MyPlayer Blacktop mode online, All-Star Weekend content, and more! (more…)...

NBA 2K13 is hoping to deliver on high-profile flashy new features along with core gameplay improvements when it releases tomorrow. Some areas (like online play and Association mode) took a backseat to MyCareer, MyTeam (Ultimate Team clone), and Jay-Z inspired presentation touches. Though there may be some frustrated with those decisions it is undeniable that what 2K is doing with the series has resonated with the masses. Whether that will be enough to continue to grow the series in sales wil...
