Over the last few weeks 2K Sports has been attempting to run a promotion where particular players would have their number of points scored taken off the price of NBA 2K15 the following day. It had been spectacular failure with not a single deal coming out of the promotion. Finally yesterday the results paid off, by combining points scored by James Harden and John Wall, and NBA 2K15 is available now on Amazon for $11. The deal will be available for up to 12 hours, though it has been note...

A third post-release patch for NBA 2K15 released today on PlayStation 4 and PC and is expected to go out on Xbox One in the coming days. The primary purpose of the patch is to address a glitch that has prevented users from applying different shoes to their MyPlayer characters since the last patch in late December. The issue with the shoes was important to fix given that actual money has been spent by consumers on them only to find that they could not use what they purchased. Even if not ...

Russell Westbrook has been on an insane run lately, putting together five triple-doubles in the last six games. His run has really moved him up the ranks ratings wise in NBA 2K15. He's now the second highest rated player in the game, only trailing LeBron James by a single point. Westbrook passed up teammate and reigning MVP Kevin Durant in the last week. Check out all the ratings changes in NBA 2K15 since the All-Star break in the spreadsheet here. Recent roster updates have included not ...
  • NBA 2K14 Servers Being Shut Down
    by
    Posted March 2nd, 2015 at 2:30 pm 4 Comments »
2K Sports has announced that the servers for NBA 2K14 will be shut down at the end of March. That means there will be no more gaming online (standard, MyTeam, or Team-Up) and will bring a close to Online Association mode. With NBA 2K14 essentially an "always-online" title the concern has always been there about what it would mean when this day arrived. Fortunately those with ongoing MyCareer or MyGM saves won't have their progress halted for good. Instead they'll just become "offline" sa...
  • Sports Games Desperately Need Alternative Online Experiences

In a recent Press Row Podcast episode I proposed the idea again that MLB: The Show, which has struggled mightily with online performance and stability since inception, should offer an "Extra Innings" mode online. That proposal generated a significant response from listeners on social media and forums intrigued by the concept and the benefits it would offer - along with expressing hope that other sports games could include unique online experiences.  (more…)...

With the NBA trade deadline passing yesterday 2K Sports has updated the rosters for NBA 2K15 to reflect all the moves that were made. Most notably that includes Goran Dragic on his way to the Heat, Brandon Knight being sent to the Suns, Isaiah Thomas moving to the Celtics, Aaron Afflalo joining the Blazers, Enes Kanter and three others to the Thunder, and Kevin Garnett heading back to Minnesota to finish his career where it began.  (more…)...
  • NBA 2K15 Ratings Changes Have Tilted Player Field Heavily Upwards
    by

2K Sports has done a great job with NBA 2K15 of improving on post-release support - one of the series' long-time weaknesses. The frequency, accuracy, consistency, and relevance of roster updates this year are immeasurably better than years' past. However the more ratings are changed the more a problem created by the process behind it has become apparent. (more…)...
  • NBA 2K15 Ratings Changes into All-Star Break

Posted February 16th, 2015 at 1:15 pm No Comments »
Though the frequency has fallen off since early in the season 2K Sports has done an admirable job with roster updates and ratings adjustments in NBA 2K15. A huge weakness of the series in past years has been eliminated due to the dedication to keep the game up-to-date and not just in terms of ratings but transactions, rotations, and accessories. There are some issues to consider with the process behind the ratings changes and analysis on that, and the biggest movers this season, will go u...
