Additionally, seen in the screenshot above, you'll be able to start franchises in new ways with a "Start Today" option and Playoffs mode.  (more…)...

Did you think the 73-9 Golden State Warriors were a powerhouse in NBA 2K16? Well, prepare yourself for 2K17, as Kevin Durant is coming to make them even more unstoppable and basically the only team you'll ever see used online. The Warriors now have four All-Stars in Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The last three MVPs reside on the team (Curry and Durant). The closest thing to what has been formed with the Warriors would probably be the 2003-04 Los Angeles...

The NBA Draft just took place on Thursday but you don't necessarily have to wait until NBA 2K17 in mid-September to start playing with the incoming rookies. User-created rosters are available to download right now in NBA 2K16. These rosters feature all the rookies on their new teams plus other transactions so far for the league year, including the moves of Derrick Rose to the Knicks, Jeff Teague to the Pacers, and Serge Ibaka to the Magic. In order to download the rosters go to Feature...

Last week it was revealed that NBA 2K16 would be among the free games for June with PlayStation Plus subscriptions on PS4. Today the offering has gone active and is expected to be available through July 4. Those with PS+ can download the game and keep it for as long as they have an active subscription. Sports games have generally not been included in the free games program whether it be through Microsoft or Sony. That’s due in part to their limited cycle of relevance and need to maximi...
  • NBA 2K17 to release in mid-September; $100 special edition announced

Even without a basketball competitor on the market, and an array of other sports games releasing from the end of August through September, the NBA 2K series continues to push its release date forward and put distance between itself and the start of the actual season - the opposite of what every other sports gaming franchise has done in recent years. Just two years ago the standard for NBA games as mandated by the licensing agreement was to go out on the first Tuesday in October, and now ...

In April it was announced that the special "Legend Edition" of NBA 2K17 would celebrate the career of Kobe Bryant. The standard edition of the game however will feature a current player - Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. It's no surprise that George was the choice considering his relationship with 2K Sports. George most recently fronted the NBA 2K16 mobile app and appeared in the special edition Kobe commerical. With the number of premier players essentially eliminated from contention (...

The free games that are provided monthly as a part of the PlayStation Plus service have helped justify the costs beyond the ability to just access online features on the PlayStation 4. Very often they've been compelling titles and even included brand new ones like Rocket League. Sony today announced the lineup of games for June, and while it's unclear what date they'll be first made available for free (possibly tomorrow) the big news is that NBA 2K16 is one of them! Sports games have gene...

Earlier this season the now back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry received ratings upgrades in NBA 2K16 that established him as the best shooter in the history of the NBA. His 99 rating for both Standing and Moving 3PT was well above the next highest in those respective categories. Despite that he was mostly unable to hit shots from the absurd 28-50 foot distances that he was making at a 70% clip in the actual real-world games. In an interview with 2K developers Mike Wang and Sean O'Gallagher t...
