The update to PSN this evening has brought with it the highly anticipated demo for MLB 11: The Show. The demo includes four innings of the World Series rematch between the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. Currently it can only be found by doing a manual search in the PlayStation Store (will show elsewhere later tonight) and comes in at a hefty 3GB. MLB 11 offers brand new analog controls for pitching, hitting, and fielding making the demo a great opportunity to get a...

With just two weeks until release 2K Sports has finally provided an opportunity to see MLB 2K11 in action. Last week brought the first glimpse of the game made up of off-camera footage. This however offers the first high quality captured footage of the game and runs for approximately 10 minutes with the Phillies @ Rockies in in the NLCS. Still no word on a demo but the assumption is that it will arrive next Tuesday otherwise they'll have missed the prerelease window. The timing of the video...

With the hours ticking down to the release of the MLB 11: The Show demo a full gameplay video has been released. Unfortunately the only way to view it is from the Gamestop site so click over and scroll down to select "Gameplay Trailer" from the column on the right side of the page. The video includes seven full minutes of high quality footage featuring the St. Louis Cardinals @ Chicago Cubs. It affords a decent opportunity to get a look at the pitching meter in action and sample some of the...

In a posting yesterday the Playstation Blog casually revealed that a demo for MLB 11: The Show would release with the update of PSN on the evening of Tuesday February 21st. This comes as somewhat of a surprise simply due to the timing involved and that to date SCEA had not publicly discussed any of their plans for the demo. Typically Sony would make a bigger deal out of promoting their products including their demo releases. That Killzone 3 releases on Tuesday ultimately shouldn't affect...

It should be concerning that the arrival of MLB 2K11 is just over two weeks away and no gameplay videos have been released. 2K Sports is not even sending preview builds out to media sites this year. Though the series somewhat recovered with 2K10 the last thing it needed going into 2K11 was the sense that it was being hidden or protected from criticism. A prerelease demo will certainly be critical in establishing it as a capable title but has not yet been announced. Today brings the first op...

A great deal of player ratings for MLB 2K11 are out as they were publicly accessible on the 2K community online league website. I've collected all the teams that were being used which amounts to 22 of them and put them in the gallery dedicated to the player ratings for ease of browsing. The teams not found were the Padres, Nationals, Tigers, White Sox, Orioles, Reds, Diamondbacks, and Pirates. If you hunt around on that site you'll actually be able to find breakdowns for pitcher's individua...

The big new feature for MLB 11: The Show comes with the implementation of analog controls. In regards to the pitching mechanic it involves what is essentially a meter like years past however utilizing the right analog stick to determine strength and accuracy based on the down-up motion and release point. To show off the new system SCEA has released a tutorial video going over how the analog pitching works which can be viewed on the Gamestop page (scroll down and select 'Pure Pitching Tutorial ...

A few updates dropped today for MLB 2K11. One is a developer blog straight from 2K Sports that focuses on enhancements to the graphics and the other from ESPN takes a look at My Player and Franchise modes. With only three and a half weeks to go until release hopefully 2K will open up with some gameplay footage and set a demo date a week or two in advance. Graphically the MLB 2K series has been poor the past few years, in some ways to an embarrassing extent, as a clear trade-off was ma...
