  • Adrian Gonzalez Chosen as Cover Athlete for MLB 12: The Show

SCEA has selected Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez to appear on the cover of MLB 12: The Show. Gonzalez comes off his first year with Boston having batted .338 with 27 home runs and 117 RBIs along with receiving the Gold Glove at 1B in the American League. The choice will be seen as somewhat questionable given the historic collapse of the Red Sox late in the season and the surrounding controversy that has since followed. His numbers however can back up the decision and a stron...

    Posted November 3rd, 2011 at 5:15 pm 10 Comments »
Considering Justin Verlander had a previous marketing relationship with 2K Sports, and is coming off a spectacular year that had some proclaiming him worthy of the MVP award and a shoo-in for Cy Young, it should be no surprise that the company today named him as the cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K12. The news was broken earlier on Twitter and the official announcement was made at the MLB Players Choice Awards. Verlander led the Detroit Tigers to the AL Central championship with...

There were several notable developments that came with the release of NPD's official sales numbers for July. Overall it was the weakest performance for video game sales since 2006 and NCAA Football 12 easily took first place. It was already known the game was seeing increased sales over the prior year - 17% for the first two weeks - and it ended up finishing 15% higher when comparing respective first month numbers.  (more…)...
  • First MLB Bobblehead Pros DLC Released

Earlier this week I laid out thoughts on MLB Bobblehead Pros in the 'Hits and Misses' review where the mention was made of plans for upcoming DLC packs. The first one of those is now available on the Xbox 360 and goes by the name 'MLB Bobblehead Stars' for 400 MS points ($5). The DLC adds in this year's All Star teams and a Home Run Derby mode. That makes the total package between Bobblehead Pros and Stars 1200 MS points ($15). Of course the DLC is optional and at the original $10 price t...
  • MLB Bobblehead Pros: Hits and Misses

    Posted July 12th, 2011 at 7:00 pm 7 Comments »
MLB Bobblehead Pros arrived on the Xbox Live Marketplace last week (PSN release upcoming) for $10. Made by Konami, the game basically takes the well regarded Power Pros series and re-skins the player models as 'bobbleheads' for the HD consoles. The series has always been a sim at heart despite the cartooney look and that tradition lives on with MLB Bobblehead Pros. Considering the price point there is a lot of content being offered with the promise of more support coming down the line throug...
  • MLB Bobblehead Pros Videos

As I continue to put time in with MLB Bobblehead Pros (which released today on XBLA) to form full impressions here are a couple gameplay videos in the meantime. It took me a couple games hitting nearly all grounders before I learned of a power swing, so you'll notice the ground outs are frequent on my end. Featured here are segments of Yankees at White Sox, Brewers at Reds, and a second Brewers at Reds but in the rain. Quick thoughts on the game though - it's very fun and plays largely si...

Starting with Resistance 3 in September SCEA's titles will restrict access to online functionality by inserting a one-time use code in copies of their games. For those who buy used (or rent) there will be a charge to purchase a new code. (more…)...
