MLB 2K12: Hits and Misses
2K Sports never made an effort to convince consumers that MLB 2K12 would represent a huge advancement for the struggling series - in fact one of their top five new features for the game was supposedly the soundtrack. Instead the company laid claim that problems of the past would be addressed and authenticity improved dramatically. Unfortunately they failed to deliver in all respects. Continue on for the Hits and Misses review of MLB 2K12. (more…)...
MLB 2K12 Patch Won’t Arrive Before May
While 2K Sports is collecting feedback for an upcoming patch of MLB 2K12, which undoubtedly has a multitude of issues to consider, the company has publicly stated not to expect it to come until at least May. The explanation behind that comes down to 2K not wanting to alter the game during the month in which the $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge takes place.
That makes sense from the standpoint that changing 2K12 in any way could disrupt players who have tried to get handle on the game ...
MLB 12: The Show Diamond Dynasty Impressions
In terms of modes the central addition to MLB 12: The Show comes in the form of Diamond Dynasty. Similar to Ultimate Team in EA Sports titles Diamond Dynasty puts additional focus on team personalization and introduces more depth to the structuring and building of them. Conceptually the mode works but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. (more…)...
Online Issues Again Prevalent With The Show
Heading into release for MLB 12: The Show there wasn't a whole lot of optimism around online play. The series has always struggled to produce a sufficient online experience - it really has been the achilles' heel that has kept it from reaching its potential beyond just being an excellent product but a complete one at that. So far with MLB 12 online has again proven to be troublesome with no apparent advancements having been made. (more…)...
MLB 12: The Show Loading Time Analysis
Lengthy loading times have always plagued The Show. This year however SCEA provides the opportunity to make the typical 5GB install (which is required) or go beyond and install 10GB. The choice of which may come down to hard drive size - making the bigger install is obviously the better option if that isn't a concern - but just how much difference does it make? Here's a look at the breakdown of loading times under each scenario. (more…)...
MLB 2K12 Initial Impressions
Titles that end a series, or that never receive a warranted follow-up, are often looked back upon fondly. 2K Sports has several of those in their past catalog alone.
MLB 2K12 will not be joining them in high-regard. What 2K Sports has produced is a game that makes it apparent the end is near and it's clear that the company has no further plans for baseball considering how little effort was put forward. (more…)...
MLB 2K12 Gameplay Videos
Given that the demo was pretty much the only way to get a look at MLB 2K12 before release I thought it important to capture some gameplay videos for anyone with some interest in the product to check out and evaluate. This series of videos includes Pirates @ Marlins, Blue Jays @ Red Sox, Yankees @ Mariners, and Rays @ Tigers.
I'll have initial impressions tomorrow but so far MLB 2K12 has been stunningly poor - I'm having trouble finding many positives to discuss with any apparent improveme...
MLB 2K12 Franchise Mode Sim Results
MLB 2K12 believes in "Moneyball". In a Franchise sim it was the Oakland A's winning the World Series in a "Battle of the Bay" against the San Francisco Giants. Player stats looked to be pretty reasonable and there were no wacky trades made by the CPU. Continue on to check out the results of the simmed season - which includes the new format for the Playoffs as well as tie-breakers for the division crown. (more…)...
