  • Latest MLB 12: The Show Roster Update Introduces New Players

It was somewhat of a surprise when last week's roster update for MLB 12: The Show arrived and didn't deliver any new players. Yoenis Cespedes in particular had broken onto the scene in plenty of time to be included in that update. Instead he and others arrive in the one that was pushed live earlier today. As the two most notable names Cespedes and Yu Darvish enter with 'A' potential and fairly high overall ratings.  (more…)...

It took longer than previous years to get the first patch for MLB 12: The Show but as of this morning it has arrived! The patch includes a fix to start times for games in Franchise mode (unlike MLB 09 a restart of Franchise/Road to the Show will not be required) the success of outfielders being able to throw out runners at first base on base hits will be greatly reduced, and teams will now wear their correct alternate jerseys on appropriate days. It's most notable that the new structure f...
  • New MLB Players Emerge First in 2K12

The first in-season roster update for MLB 12: The Show arrived on Monday but did not deliver any new players who have made their debuts this season. To MLB 2K12's credit the game has gotten some details right over the competition like the new playoff structure and division tiebreakers - it's also the first to deliver names like Yu Darvish, Yoenis Cespedes, and even those who had been absent such as Jamie Moyer to the roster this year. The two big arrivals are of course Darvish who com...
  • Online Home Run Derby in MLB 12: The Show Still Missing in Action
    by
    Posted April 12th, 2012 at 12:30 pm 10 Comments »
One mystery surrounding MLB 12: The Show has been it's Online Home Run Derby mode which even now in mid-April remains absent from the game. Granted it was not highly promoted, and actually I could only find one reference to it from the company and a flash of it in a trailer, but it's still a feature that some anticipated taking advantage of that has not been delivered. Based on some comments out of SCEA in response to consumer inquries the mode was left inactive at launch to protect again...
  • MLB Today Season Mode Now (Partially) Working in MLB 2K12
    by
    Posted April 11th, 2012 at 4:30 pm 14 Comments »
The MLB season has been underway for two weeks and finally MLB 2K12's main new mode has started to look like what was advertised. Having on two occasions now detailed that MLB Today Season was not even functioning it was critical that 2K Sports get it running properly. Some headway appears to have been made early this week but the mode still isn't fulfilling the promises the company set.  (more…)...
  • MLB 12: The Show Finally Discounted

With the rate at which recent releases have seen their prices drop - some within a matter of days after hitting stores - MLB 12: The Show has bucked the trend by staying put at its $60 price until today. Amazon is now selling the PS3 version of the game for $50 while the Vita is still at its original $40. Also it's worth noting that the deal where buying one gets a discount of $20 on the other remains only in effect until tomorrow April 10th. While sales for The Show have apparently falle...
  • MLB 12: The Show Opening Weekend Roster Update Brings No New Players

    Posted April 9th, 2012 at 10:45 am 15 Comments »
The first roster update to follow the opening of the season for MLB 12: The Show has arrived and brings with it 178 total player movements. However somewhat surprisingly the update did not deliver any of the players who appeared in their first MLB games which made them eligible to be added. The most notable name of those still absent is Oakland A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes who already has 3 home runs and 7 RBIs in the first 4 games. Yu Darvish has his debut tonight meaning he can be add...
  • MLB 12: The Show Patch Support Tracking Well Behind Past Years

    Posted April 7th, 2012 at 12:30 pm 27 Comments »
Now into April with the baseball season fully underway many consumers have begun to ask why the first patch for MLB 12: The Show has yet to arrive. It's an understandable question considering the rate at which patches have been delivered for The Show in recent years. SCEA has yet to comment on plans for post-release support and have been careful to avoid even stating that a patch is being worked on. There shouldn't be reason for concern at this stage however. Undoubtedly one is in the pip...
