After peaking in sales with MLB 10 SCEA's The Show series has declined modestly every year since. Though it faces essentially no competition on the PS3 and the quality of the franchise in terms of reputation remains stellar, grumblings of a lack of advancement and questionable decisions like not offering demos have been heard and ultimately may have hurt. Perception could be altered with the PS4 offering next spring but the brand has taken a slight hit in the meantime even with MLB 13 being ...

After profiling The Show Live in MLB 13: The Show following opening day it was clear that later attention would have to be paid to the new mode in order to ascertain whether the features would be fully delivered. Rosters were somewhat of a mess - with random free agents filling the spots of those who were not in the rosters yet - and the enhanced commentary had nothing yet to go on. Two weeks now into the season the mode can be better evaluated.  (more…)...

With plenty of time having passed to vote on the player faces in the 2013 editions of the MLB games here are the results. Over 73K total votes were collected through the process and the results were definitive to say the least. While 2K Sports has at least put up a fight in the three years prior, coming out on top 30% of the time, this battle proved to be a far greater mismatch. MLB 13: The Show won 35 of the 40 over MLB 2K13. Most of the pairings were routs with The Show taking 26 of the...

    Posted April 9th, 2013 at 10:15 am 10 Comments »
A huge benefit to being first party means getting propelled to the front of the line in the patch certification process and not having to pay a significant fee for more after completing the first two free ones. While SCEA hasn't really taken advantage of the latter in recent years for The Show they have the former by getting the first extensive patches out within a matter of weeks. That happened again with MLB 13: The Show as a hefty update that came out in late March and now the company has...
