SCEA has just announced the cover athlete for MLB 15: The Show. The honor goes to Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig. Puig does have a history with SCEA as he was part of a live stream promoting the PS4 version of MLB 14 prior to its release back in April and he's a big personality. However he may be considered an odd choice given his divisive nature and inability to act as a strong spokesperson for the product - not to mention his poor performance late in the season that led t...

First announced back in September the unlicensed digital game Super Mega Baseball now has an official release date and pricing details. The game is set to arrive for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on December 16. It'll go for $20 and is cross-buy meaning once it's purchased for one it'll be owned for both systems. Despite the game not having any online play, which was initially disappointing news, the arrival of Share Play with PS4 could provide that H2H online experience depending on in...

SCEA has announced that MLB 15: The Show news will come out of the PlayStation Experience this coming weekend. The new fan-centric event takes place on Saturday and Sunday in Las Vegas. This first news will actually arrive behind the typical schedule for an upcoming edition of The Show. Whatever would have normally come in November has been held back for the big PlayStation event. Historically the early promotion for the series has primarily centered on the cover athlete. Adrian Gonzal...

Mobile games these days are largely dominated by free-to-play offerings that pressure users to spend money. Often it's about spending money just to be able to continue playing the game rather than the more traditional paying for optional upgrades or bonus content. This has resulted in a reliance on "whales" - the incredibly small percentage of users that account for the majority of the revenue - and creating a game that will hook them. They'd rather do that than make the game fun and invitin...

SCEA today released the regular weekly roster update for MLB 14: The Show and this one stands out in magnitude due to the recent passing of the trade deadline. All the deals made last week are reflected in the new update. The A's and Tigers bolster their already strong rotations by acquiring Jon Lester and David Price respectively. Yoenis Cespedes moves to the Red Sox, Austin Jackson to the Mariners, and John Lackey to the Cardinals. The injury to Cliff Lee is also handled in this update....
  • Details on Patch Released for MLB 14: The Show on PS4 and PS3

SCEA today released the first patch for the PlayStation 4 version of MLB 14: The Show with the fixes also being applied to the PS3 version which is now on its second. It's a significant update that would appear to address many of the issues people have had with the game since its release in early May (PS4) and the beginning of April (PS3). Areas impacted by the patch include online play (will have to sufficiently evaluate to determine effectiveness), the misaligned strike zone specific to...
  • MLB 14: The Show All-Star Rosters Updated

This week's roster update for MLB 14: The Show included the players for the All-Star Game which takes place this evening. The participants for the game were selected over a week ago but the starting pitchers and batting order were unveiled just yesterday. Unfortunately due to the timing that meant SCEA made a lot of guesses and the result are a number of inaccuracies. More disappointing (as the starting pitcher and batting order can be changed) is that players who have been added to the r...

For the first time since release in early May, MLB 14: The Show on PlayStation 4 can be had at a significantly reduced price. Amazon currently has the game for $40 matching an in-store deal currently available from Best Buy. In many cases an offering like this one is for a limited quantity and goes fast however given it's a price match it may be available for the entire week. MLB 14: The Show on PS4 has been lauded for its gameplay, visual enhancements, and depth of offline content but...
