Derek Jeter signed a multi-year agreement to be the spokesman and cover athlete for the MLB 2K series beginning with 2K5. It was never stated how long the agreement ran for, so it is possible that he will continue on for a 4th straight year. Lets hope not though. Here are some of the top candidates should a new cover athlete be selected. 2K tends to go with either the young star on the rise such as Chris Paul or the overly marketable superstar such as Derek Jeter or Shaq. If they move awa...

With the time for MLB 2K8 news approaching I thought it would be interesting to look back on MLB 2K7. Coming into the 2nd year of producer Ben Brinkman's "three year plan" what is the series working from after last year? A patch was released for 2K7 that addressed some of the issues including adding an additional fielding camera. Did you play the game after the patch was released? If so feel free to leave your thoughts on how much it improved the game. Initially I thought 2K7 was a lot...
  • Demo for The BIGS now available

The demo for The BIGS has finally made it to the Xbox 360 Marketplace. Originally 2K had stated it would be out during the game's release week of June 26th. The demo features St. Louis @ Detroit in a three inning rematch of last year's World Series. This is the ideal game for a demo. If people give it a chance they'll really find it to be more than just an "arcade" game. It has some sim and strategical elements mixed in. And it simply is a lot of fun to play. Unfortunately...
  • Padre’s The BIGS Rookie Challenge: Part 5

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 The next task was a training mini-game for Distance Hitting. Get as much distance as possible on each of the 10 swings. Padre hit five homeruns, but barely scraped out enough to move on as he fouled a few of the others off. In a 3 inning game @ the Rockies, Padre was told he needed to get an RBI in a victory. That was accomplished quickly, as he drove in a run off a double in the 1st inning. In the 3rd inning, he hit a Power Blast 2 run HR. For the game he went...

Previously: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 The next challenge was to beat the Nationals in a 5 inning game, in which a victory would bring the opportunity to steal one of their players. Down 2-1 in the top of the 4th, Marcus Giles tied it up with an RBI double, and then Jose Cruz Jr. pinch hit and got a 2 RBI double to push the score to 4-2. However in the bottom of the 4th, Brian Schneider hit a game tying 2 run HR. In the bottom of the 5th, an RBI single scored the winning run for Washington. Pa...

Part 1 - Part 2  I tried out the HR Pinball which was pretty neat. I'm not sure how much time I'll spend with it but I thought it was one of the better mini-games in a sports title since MVP Baseball. Just wish there was a challenge form of it online. I like that even in this game there is fatigue for starting pitchers. I figured that they wouldn't even take it into consideration, but you basically want to keep your three man rotation going because the SPs fatigue level is disp...
  • The Bigs: Online Play Report

One important aspect of a sports title that usually doesn't get reviewed properly if at all is online play. Basically, since the media sites have the game early or are working off a dev kit, they don't have anyone to play online. That is why you see them review what they've been told is there for online, but rarely do they ever lay out how good it is. Issues such as distance lag in the EA Sports titles or broken leagues in the 2K titles generally aren't mentioned....
