  • MLB 2K8 at CES?

One topic being discussed right now has to do with the possibility of MLB 2K8 being shown at the Consumer Electronics Show which runs from January 7-10th in Las Vegas. While MLB 2K7 was shown at CES last year, 2K is not on the list of exhibitors currently published on the official website. The important thing to remember is CES is primarily a hardware event. While it is possible some games will be displayed by various companies there are no guarantees as it isn't the purpose behind CES. ...

SCEA has released a set of five new screens from MLB 08: The Show featuring shortstop Miguel Tejada who was recently acquired by the Houston Astros. You can check them out by heading over to the screenshot gallery. It'll be interesting to see if this is the start of a series of images spotlighting players on new teams for the coming season. It has been somewhat surprising that The Show has released this many screens along with the feature list so early and in doing so has stolen much of t...
  • MLB 2K8 release date

As previously suggested would happen, MLB 2K8 has an initial release date of Tuesday March 4th. This is the same day that MLB 08 The Show is scheduled to release. However don't be surprised to see the game bumped up a week as the release date approaches. This is a tactic that has been used by 2K (as well as EA) in the past in order to get a jump on the competition. Where the companies are not allowed to do this with the NBA license they are free to do so with MLB....
  • New MLB 2K8 interview

IGN has conducted a new interview with MLB 2K8 producer Ben Brinkman which you can check out here. In a way it feels like an extended follow-up to the post release MLB 2K7 interview which I summed up here when that came out. To note, the screens that are associated with the new interview are of 2K7. None have been released yet for 2K8. The interview offers up a few details about the direction that the franchise is headed although not too many specifics are discussed over the course of a v...

Gamestop/EB has added MLB 08: The Show to their websites with a release date of 3/4/08. While it hasn't been confirmed and could be changed, generally the games don't go up or have details about them change without receiving specific information from the companies. Last year the PS2 and PSP versions of The Show released on February 27th. They took extra time with the first effort on the PS3 as that one was pushed back all the way to May 15th. The PS3 version will go for $59.99 and the ...

Yesterday brought the first screenshots and the official fact sheet that listed all of the features for the upcoming MLB 08: The Show on the PS3. Later in the day the official Playstation Blog hosted a write-up from the Director of Production for the MLB series Chris Cutliff. Three additional screens were released and you can find them now in the gallery. The blog posting which you can check out here mainly focused on the work they've done graphically for this year's title. Certainly th...

Sony has released the first information and screens from the upcoming PS3 version of MLB 08: The Show. This is certainly one of the most extensive and impressive feature lists ever released for a sports title. Items such as the improved Road to The Show, progressive batting, SCOUT online opponent searching, custom soundtracks, and more life-like crowd interaction will leave fans of SCEA's MLB series anticipating this year's game more than ever. Check out the five screenshots in the gal...
  • Jose Reyes is the MLB 2K8 cover athlete

1Up has announced that Jose Reyes has been chosen by 2K Sports to be the cover athlete for MLB 2K8. Statistically he stands out with his number of stolen bases and runs scored and he plays in the huge NY market. It is a curious choice however given how the Mets were a complete embarassment at the end of the season when they went through one of the biggest collapses in sports history. This does thankfully break the streak of three straight years of Derek Jeter and five straight years of...
