MLB 2K8 trading card system detailed
My perception of the MLB 2K8 trading card feature completely changed coming out of the conference call. Prior to that it didn't really interest me. I remember my original thought was it seemed like a feature made with the purpose of being used for promotion of the game and that it would end up as little more than a gimmick. That was probably due in part to the lame Madden cards of years past.
However after coming to the realization that they are essentially an extension of Xbox Live achie...
MLB 2K8 conference call recap
Earlier today I had the opportunity to sit in on a conference call with producer Ben Brinkman of 2K Sports' Major League Baseball 2K8. I took notes throughout the call which went on for over an hour and have put together a summary of the more notable responses and themes.
Overall the focus this year was on adding significant depth along with the gameplay improvements. They needed to add content to a good playing game. Some of which includes the new pitching, hitting, and fielding mechanic...
MLB 08: The Show release moved up?
While no official word has been made a couple interesting developments suggest that MLB 08: The Show could be releasing next week.
A few weeks ago I wrote on how historically the baseball titles move up their release as the original date nears. The MLB does not require that all the games come out on the same day. So the companies have used this opportunity to get a jump on the competition in the past.
Amazon today changed the release date for The Show from 3/4 to 2/28. Gamefly has chan...
New Road to the Show video
A while back SCEA released a trailer (in the mold of a tutorial) for the Road to the Show 2.0 mode in MLB 08. Now there is a new video available that shows off some other elements of the mode with more actual gameplay footage from the individual camera perspective.
There is no narration in this video as it breezes by aspects such as the CAP, advancement goals, base coach signs, and stats pages along with the gameplay.
This is the most anticipated aspect of the game for me. As I've ment...
MLB 2K8 Big Head Mode
2K has sent over a few screenshots showing off the "Big Head" mode from MLB 2K8. These actually remind me a little of The BIGS in their look as they appear to fall more on the exaggerated side than going way overboard.
I'm always amused by modes such as this, sometimes it's a relief to not take the games so seriously and just have fun with them. Click the thumbnails below to view the images full size.

A few new MLB 2K8 details
The March issue of Game Informer has made its way out and it includes an article on MLB 2K8 that mentions a few previously unknown details about the game.
There is so much content included in the game that it couldn't all fit onto the 360 disc. Free downloadable content will be provided for what was left out
Apparently the 360 version of the game is lacking the unlockable stadiums and Cool Base alternate uniforms that the PS3 version has. Because of that they will be made available on rele...
23 more MLB 08: The Show screenshots
Earlier today I posted a series of MLB 08: The Show screens showing off a player-umpire argument. Now SCEA has unleashed even more. The media push is really on with release day now under two weeks away and the demo out and well received. These screens feature the Dodgers @ Astros, Tigers @ Royals, Rangers @ Orioles, and Dodgers @ Cubs.
My personal favorites in this bunch show off the Royals wearing their powder blue alternate uniforms. I've added a couple of the new ones below (click the ...
MLB 08: The Show Umpire Personalities
SCEA has released series of seven screenshots showing off an argument apparently spurned by a personality conflict in MLB 08: The Show. The ump has made a call that the player disagrees with and emotions are heated. It doesn't appear to have ended amicably.
Click the thumbnails below to view the images full size. All other screenshots collected for The Show thus far can be found in the gallery.
I noted in my initial demo impressions that you could see some examples in the...
