The end of the month will bring the first ever community event hosted by SCEA as myself and a select few others head down to San Diego to check out MLB 09 The Show. While the event takes place at a point in development where the game is already complete, this does provide an opportunity not only to collect information and impressions for 09 but also to begin offering invaluable feedback and suggestions to be considered going forward. *Inaugural San Diego Studios “MLB09 The Showâ€...
  • Should MLB 2K9 Keep The Trading Cards?

Much has been made as to what changes are needed for MLB 2K9 to improve on last years disappointing effort. While we still have no details on what 2K has in store this year, NHL 2K9 probably provides the blueprint of what to expect considering the similar circumstances. Hopefully we will get more insight into MLB 2K9 in early-mid January, though because of the release of MLB Front Office Manager the bulk of the promotion may not come until February. What I was wondering about right now th...
  • Early MLB Front Office Manager Review

The latest OXM has the first review for MLB Front Office Manager. They gave it a 5/10 citing awful menus and a worthless manager mode though they did state the game was very in depth. Thanks to Jesse Behr from The 'Burgh Blues for sending the tip in. While the review would seem discouraging it sounds awful familiar to some of the ones that were handed out to NFL Head Coach 09. While I just couldn't get into that game, it did deliver the deep and very detailed experience that crowd was loo...
  • The Yankees Positioned As Top Video Game Team

For those looking forward to the MLB 09 The Show and MLB 2K9 it is always interesting to evaluate the free agent signings and contemplate how big of an impact they will have. The rosters that will ship with the games lock in mid-January meaning we are nearing that point. Release day roster updates have become the norm though negating the significance of the roster lockdown dates. Even when the Yankees are not the best team in baseball they always seem to translate as the best, or at least o...
  • Padrecast: MLB 09 The Show Fact Sheet

It's the return of the Padrecast! After doing a handful of them last year I wasn't really satisfied with what I was able to offer on my own. The idea though is to have a shorter, more focused discussion that is unedited and just presented as-is. I'm joined by my OS Waiver Wire co-host Chase Becotte in what should be a continuing series of them. It's a change of pace from the normal show we would do. To kick it off we wanted to discuss the MLB 09 The Show fact sheet. We basically just run ...
  • MLB Front Office Manager Price Lowered More?

Over the last week I've been tracking MLB Front Office Manager's status on Gamestop. For reasons unknown the 360 version disappeared off the site while the PS3 and PC versions remained. Now there have been a couple new developments that could suggest the price of the game has been changed from the $39.99 it was expected to be. Thanks to a forum post by PP member doubleot it came to my attention that Gamestop now has the 360 version back up and listed for $34.99. It specifically mentions a...
  • How Important Is The Custom Chants Feature?
    by
    Posted December 23rd, 2008 at 8:49 pm 84 Comments »
It has become apparent that the mainstream has identified the custom chant creator as the most compelling addition to MLB 09: The Show. Most of the articles relating to the latest info on 09 center around it and focus on that feature in particular. For as much advancement as it looks like The Show will offer, the ability to record custom chants and yells appears as though it is one of the few features that is completely new to the series. In that regard it shouldn't be a surprise that it ...
  • MLB 09: The Show Full Details

Today SCEA officially announced MLB 09: The Show via press release along with the complete fact sheet. Though much about the game has already been revealed through previews they have summed up the main new features and gone into detail on more. Still to come is confirmation of Dustin Pedroia as the cover athlete which I would've expected that prior to all of this info. Still the only disappointment for me is that is seems the video highlights won't be uploadable which basically negates an...
