The Wrap-Up: MLB 2K9
Heading into the release of MLB 2K9 there was a certain sense of optimism. Outside of one clearly identified problem everything pointed towards an improved offering, one that while maybe not great would be enough to satisfy baseball gaming fans on the 360. Unfortunately it didn't take long to realize that not only did that not turn out to be the case, but it is far worse than anyone would've anticipated.

The Wrap-Up: MLB 09 The Show
At times I've had some difficulty writing about The Show over the last couple months which is actually due to what a quality product 08 was. Usually you can assess the previous iteration and have an idea of what you're looking for out of the next. With 08 the only real glaring weakness was with online play. It is tougher to identify and discuss the improvements to a game when it was already so good to begin with.
So that's where I start when evaluating MLB 09 The Show. I already knew it w...
MLB 2K9 Online Impressions
Last year MLB 2K8 offered quite possibly the worst online experience of any sports game this generation. It was literally unplayable due to unbearable lag and delay. Given that the 2K Sports titles since have all had their share of major problems online I was hesitant to believe that 2K9 would be much better. However I have been pleasantly surprised with it so far. Continue on to read my full online impressions as well as watch some video examples.

MLB 09 The Show Online Impressions
SCEA has always struggled in the area of online play with their MLB franchise. Whether it was the "traffic delays", lag plagued outings, or questionable design decisions there has always been something severely wrong. Early reports heading into release were not encouraging. Now that the game is out I've had additional time to evaluate the online play. Continue on to read through my observations and watch some video examples.

Some of the changes are listed below but Ken Griffey Jr is now on the Mariners also. Manny Ramirez did not sign in time to make this update. It's likely we'll see the next one, which should be due out on Monday, include him and other more recent moves.
Change Highlights:
C Jason Varitek moved from Free Agent to Red Sox Position.

The BIGS 2 Trailer
As mentioned last week a trailer arrived on copies of MLB 2K9 for the sequel to The BIGS. Ironically The BIGS is a game that had better graphics and played more sim in some ways than the MLB 2K franchise did and still does. It was one of the first sports games to offer an online co-op mode, which while limited was a lot of fun. The strategical elements were well done and the gameplay was very clean. While it is very much an arcade game it wasn't too over the top, just more of an exaggeration...
First Thoughts and Videos from MLB 2K9
With MLB 2K9 out today I recorded a couple innings in HD and also decided to drop some early thoughts on the game. I'll have a more detailed "wrap-up" article in the coming days as well as a report focusing on the online play of both baseball titles.
Continue on to watch the videos and read some of the initial impressions I have with the game. Needless to say things are not looking good.
