Today the prerelease stream schedule for MLB The Show 22 was announced. Rather than what was present being the story it's what was absent. There is no mention of Franchise Mode for any of the seven streams to come. In recent years Franchise has at least been included, even when barely addressed in the actual stream. Now, despite pressure from fans on social media, it's been made more clear than ever that Franchise not only the lowest of priorities but may not be around much longer. (more...

We’re delighted to announce that MLB The Show 21 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one and will be available on April 20 for Xbox Ser...

MLB The Show 21 will release on April 20 with a price of $70 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and $60 on PS4 and Xbox One. Back in late 2019 MLB and Sony announced that the MLB The Show series would be going multi-platform in 2021. While details were scarce then and nothing new has been provided in the over 13 months since, the expectation has been that MLB The Show 21 would be making its debut on Xbox. Only the pandemic threw some uncertainty into the equation. Now thanks to a leak of the cover athlete, who in absolutely no surprise is Fernando Tatis Jr., it appears those on the Xbox Series X/Series S/One wi...

The MLB season is set to begin just over a week from now and Sony San Diego has laid out expectations for how it will or won't be replicated in MLB The Show 20. This season will consist of 60 games with 40 of them coming against division opponents and the other 20 taking on teams from the same regional division in the other league. The universal designated hitter has been put into place and extra innings will see a runner start on second base. Of course there no fans will be in attendance...

A series of patches have already rolled out in these very early days of MLB The Show 20. The first ones addressed a number of issues that had been identified and adjusted hitting difficulty. A third post-release patch just arrived and affects pitching and hitting in online play and makes a change to throw meter accuracy. (more…)...
  • Custom Leagues in MLB The Show 20

This week of promotion for MLB The Show 20 centered on the new (Online) Custom Leagues mode. While it appears to be intended as a substitute for Online Franchise it isn't remotely a feature-for-feature replacement and there are still unanswered questions - even after multiple teases a blog and a full stream - that will heavily impact how widely adapted and ultimately how successful it may become. Its simplicity could prove to be a draw for some but the lack of depth and possible exclusion of...
  • More details on RTTS and Franchise for MLB The Show 20

The developer stream for MLB The Show 20 centered on Road to the Show and Franchise Mode was held yesterday putting on display the new additions and improvements. The RTTS enhancements look to be intriguing as relationships with teammates now play a role, immediate upgrades to ratings, and new in-game challenges that influence the outcome of games. Unfortunately it's shaping up to be another disappointing year for Franchise Mode. Limited rebranding rather than the "relocation" being adver...
