2K Sports today announced the winner of the MLB 2K11 $1 Million Perfect Game Contest. Brian Kingrey of Hammond, Louisiana walks away with the prize after pitching the first verified perfect game following the opening of the contest on April 1st. Like last year the feat was completed on the first day however it happened even quicker this time around. The feat was completed within two hours of the contest opening up which is especially surprising given the general perception that the task a...

After a wait of over ten weeks 2K Sports has finally delivered a patch for MLB 2K11. Plagued since release by numerous bugs and severe AI issues many of the fixes are intended to address those problems. The patch is available now for the Xbox 360 and PC but has been delayed for the PS3 due to the lengthy PSN outage. Among the most important fixes are getting fatigue to function properly in Association mode, reduction in number of injuries, fixing the home run wall glitch, and improved bas...

It was only a week into the $1 million Perfect Game Contest for MLB 2K11 before claims of the feat having been completed with the support of videos and images started coming in. 2K Sports has now confirmed that a winner has been verified and will be announced on May 26th. It'll be interesting to find out the date that the qualifying perfect game was completed. The PSN outage prevented any PS3 gamers from even attempting the contest but that didn't occur until April 19th and it seems almos...

After a wait of over two and a half months the patch for MLB 2K11 is finally set to be delivered on Wednesday May 18th for the Xbox 360 and PC. Presumably the patch has been delayed on the PS3 side by the nearly month long outage to PSN and there is no clear idea as to when that may clear certification by Sony who are surely backlogged with requests. MLB 2K11 has been plagued by numerous bugs, Association mode problems such as no fatigue and an overwhelming number of injuries, the main ne...

MLB 2K11 has faced heavy criticism for being riddled with serious bugs and AI issues and after seven weeks a patch hasn't even been delivered in an attempt to address them. Given that we are now just about a full month into the regular season it made sense to check out the "Dynamic Player Ratings" feature that was heralded as the only significant addition to the game this year. Not surprisingly the feature fails to operate as advertised.  (more…)...

Last year there were major warning signs that consumers were starting to become tired of the MLB offerings being delivered by SCEA and 2K Sports. The results of the polls were too well defined to be overlooked and that sentiment appears to have carried over into this year which has seen sales decline for both MLB 11: The Show and MLB 2K11. Here is a look at the state of the two games this year (with over 8K voters having chimed in) which could provide an outlook of how they will either bounc...
  • NBA 2K11 Beats All Sports Releases in March

In its sixth month of release NBA 2K11 continued its sales dominance by topping all of the high profile new sports titles that arrived in March. That is a departure from the past few years where the MLB The Show franchise carried the month with relative ease. Last year NBA 2K10 did not even make the top 20 for the month to put it in context. In total there were eight different sports themed titles to release last month and that competition appears to have eaten away at the potential of each ...
  • Has Someone Already Won the MLB 2K11 Perfect Game Contest?

By all accounts the $1 Million Perfect Game Contest for MLB 2K11 has proven to be more challenging than that of MLB 2K10 which ended on the very first day. Whether it be due to the difficulty being adjusted, the addition of errors and less reliable fielding, or any number of bugs or freezing issues there has been more frustration communicated about the contest this year. It now appears though that at least one person has achieved a perfect game within the special dedicated mode as a video...
