MLB 2K12 believes in "Moneyball". In a Franchise sim it was the Oakland A's winning the World Series in a "Battle of the Bay" against the San Francisco Giants. Player stats looked to be pretty reasonable and there were no wacky trades made by the CPU. Continue on to check out the results of the simmed season - which includes the new format for the Playoffs as well as tie-breakers for the division crown.  (more…)...

With MLB 2K12 now in hand info, impressions, and videos will roll out through the weekend and early into the week. First in line are team ratings followed later today by the top player ratings. The Texas Rangers come in as the best team overall slightly edging out the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. The Rangers take the top spot in hitting while the Phillies capture a 99 rating in pitching. The worst team is the Houston Astros who bottom out with a pathetic 62 in hitting while...

    Posted February 28th, 2012 at 11:30 am 63 Comments »
The demo for MLB 2K12 was a no-show with the XBL marketplace update early this AM due to an error on Microsoft's part but it has now arrived (queue up for download on the 360 here). It will go out on the PS3 when the store updates later this afternoon. Featuring three innings of a Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals World Series rematch the commentary - possibly the best aspect of the series - has unfortunately been stripped out due to file size considerations. As always leave your though...

While there's still no comment out of SCEA regarding a demo for MLB 12: The Show today 2K Sports announced that MLB 2K12 will have its release on Tuesday February 28th on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It will include a World Series rematch of the Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals. This represents the first sign of encouragement regarding the product which has been kept out of the sight of consumers for the most part with 2K limiting information and media on it. With just over a week to go there...
  • 2K Sports and SCEA Remain Mum on Baseball Demo Plans

The second to last week to offer a pre-release demo for MLB 2K12 and MLB 12: The Show on the 360 and PS3 have now passed. That leaves just one final opportunity, Tuesday the 28th, to get a demo out before the games hit stores. A lack of a pre-release demo would be an undeniably terrible sign for MLB 2K12 and a discouraging one even for MLB 12: The Show. There are various reasons why companies would choose to defer on providing a demo but all of them would be due to a feeling that doing so pr...

It has been notable that neither publisher of the baseball titles this year are offering any sort of pre-order incentive. Stepping in then to do so on the retailer end is Amazon who today added a $10 promotional credit for MLB 2K12 along with release day delivery which is free for Prime subscribers and just for 99 cents otherwise. Not only will standard copies of MLB 2K12 (360 - PS3) get the promo credit but so will the recently announced combo pack (360 only) with NBA 2K12. That will mak...
