MLB 2K12 is making a run at being tabbed as the biggest failure from the first third of the year and it's list of issues doesn't even include the latest embarrassment. It's ironic - and maybe somewhat fitting for the troubled MLB 2K series - that once they finally got the structure of the $1 million Perfect Game Contest right by turning it into a competition they left open a huge loophole for players to exploit. Kotaku has all the details on how the contest has been seriously compromised.ÂÂ...

In the first run through of player face comparisons between MLB 2K12 and MLB 12: The Show it was the latter that dominated winning 21 out of the 27 pairings. Once roster updates introduced new players though it was time to check in on them given the process of creating players and adding them after release is handled much differently than those meticulously built for the original shipped product. Needless to say both titles delivered very questionable representations. Though no one would ...

MLB 12: The Show dominated MLB 2K12 in the player face comparison 21-6 last month. Now both titles have released roster updates and introduced new players which is a whole different animal. The three most prominent names are Yu Darvish and Yoenis Cespedes - who made their major league debuts - and a returning Jamie Moyer. Which game created the better Darvish, Cespedes, and Moyer? For those who don't feel either game can claim that distinction there is an option in the polls with that in ...

The first in-season roster update for MLB 12: The Show arrived on Monday but did not deliver any new players who have made their debuts this season. To MLB 2K12's credit the game has gotten some details right over the competition like the new playoff structure and division tiebreakers - it's also the first to deliver names like Yu Darvish, Yoenis Cespedes, and even those who had been absent such as Jamie Moyer to the roster this year. The two big arrivals are of course Darvish who com...

The MLB season has been underway for two weeks and finally MLB 2K12's main new mode has started to look like what was advertised. Having on two occasions now detailed that MLB Today Season was not even functioning it was critical that 2K Sports get it running properly. Some headway appears to have been made early this week but the mode still isn't fulfilling the promises the company set.  (more…)...
  • Another Run at MLB Today Season in MLB 2K12 Yields More Distressing Results

It wasn't completely unexpected that MLB Today Season mode in MLB 2K12 wouldn't be running properly right off the bat. The MLB 2K series has a history of poorly implemented or completely non-functioning features. So there was little surprise when last week MLB Today Season wasn't working when the season opened with the Mariners vs A's series in Japan.  (more…)...

With MLB 2K10 and 2K11 the $1 million Perfect Game Contest ended just about as soon as they got underway. Despite promotion that continued for months both contests were won on the first day. That wont be happening with MLB 2K12. The contest, which opened up this morning, runs through the end of the month and will award those who pitch the eight "best" Perfect Games over the period with a trip to compete in a live single-elimination tournament for the grand prize. What makes one Perfect Ga...

That provides the opportunity to take a look at MLB Today Season mode which was the main feature addition for MLB 2K12. Seemingly, as with most things MLB 2K, it's not actually working as advertised.
