It came as no surprise that Take Two would pass on renewing a third party exclusive agreement with Major League Baseball thus signalling an end to the 2K franchise. MLB 2K will end up being the only officially licensed "sim" game to have appeared on the Xbox 360. It was a predictable conclusion but one that leaves plenty of uncertainty going forward and has damaged the potential of another series appearing in its place.  (more…)...

It was recently asked by Kotaku whether anyone will care that there will be no more baseball on the Xbox 360. The answer of course is yes, there are some who will care, but it certainly will not be a significant or influential contingent left abandoned.  (more…)...

Though they are both coming to an end in their own ways - with the NBA Finals wrapping up and 2K Sports' MLB series all but officially canned - the NBA 2K12/MLB 2K12 Combo Pack for the Xbox 360 makes for a compelling package at the right price. A deal has now sprung up with the combo going for just $40 at Amazon. •NBA 2K12/MLB 2K12 Combo Pack It's unclear how long it'll remain active as this represents the first significant deal the product has received - the price otherwise has ...
  • MLB 2K12 Patch Details
    by
    Posted June 2nd, 2012 at 11:00 am 11 Comments »
In what may very well be the last action for the MLB 2K franchise as it comes to an end 2K Sports has released a patch for MLB 2K12 taking nearly three months to do so. MLB Today Season, the main new mode for the game, inexcusably has been busted all along and this patch doesn't appear to be promising a complete fix. Other prominent issues are going unaddressed as well. In general it's a much less extensive update than the company has provided in past years which may not come as much of a...

Take Two reported their Q4 Fiscal 2012 financials today and with that came their upcoming slate of scheduled products for the entire 2013 fiscal year. The only sports title listed is NBA 2K13 signaling what could be the end of the MLB 2K franchise. In fact this was the exact way that both the NHL 2K and College Hoops 2K franchises were discovered to have been cancelled so the precedent is there. (Update) Confirmation has come down the series is indeed dead. (more…)...
  • 2K Sports Ignores MLB 2K12 Perfect Game Controversy – Competition Continues As Though Nothing Happened

While the in-person tournament portion of the $1 million Perfect Game Contest with MLB 2K12 takes place in New York the shroud of controversy looms large. Rampant cheating ruined any legitimacy the contest had - tactics that were well known prior to the contest ending by those taking part and by 2K Sports - yet none of the top 8 scorers were eliminated or seemingly even had their actions further scrutinized.  (more…)...
  • MLB 2K12 Patch Still A Ways Off

Though it has desperately needed post-release support in the way of a patch MLB 2K12 has gone without one because of the Perfect Game Contest. Ironically 2K Sports had to make sure the competition would offer uniformity for the whole month of April only to find out that any legitimacy it had was shattered by rampant cheating. Now that it's all over though 2K Sports is in the clear to alter the game and because of that many expected they would be ready to roll out an update immediately. Unfor...
