MLB 2K9 Going Overboard with Stadium Advertising
I've never had any issues with in-game ads being displayed. This is because they have always been a natural fit, actually helping to increase the immersion factor. Seeing advertisements in places you would see them in real life they've makes sense. However with MLB 2K9 they may have finally crossed the line with how they are being inserted.
Thanks to Operation Sports who has provided screenshots of every stadium we can now see how certain ads (specifically Pepsi) are dominant. While it's po...
First MLB 2K9 Gameplay Videos
With the disaster that MLB Front Office Manager turned out to be we can now focus on a game that looks to have some potential. 2K Sports has finally lifted the restriction on media sites for posting videos of MLB 2K9. Some have already begun to provide them with more sure to arrive later today. Below are links to the first posted gameplay videos and I'll be adding more as they show up.
While it isn't yet enough to start making full evaluations on the game you can get a sense for the prese...
MLB 2K9 Top Player Ratings
Gamespot has revealed the top 10 rated players at each position in MLB 2K9. As always ratings are somewhat subjective and will surely be argued about. It appears that in general the ratings are being kept on the low side. Although Albert Pujols is 100 no other position players are above a 94. Three pitchers come in at 95/96. Most players in the game though seem to fall in the 77-84 range.
Most importantly we'll finally be getting some gameplay videos on Friday. You can check out the l...
MLB 2K9 Franchise Diary
Jon Robinson of ESPN has posted up the first part of his MLB 2K9 Franchise Diary series. This is something he did last year with 2K8 as well. The write-up includes the first details on improvements made to Franchise mode as well as an image of the new MLB.com interface. You can read the article in its entirety here.
MLB 2K9's Franchise was built from the ground up, adding and improving on things gamers have already praised from the NBA title. The game now features stats-based player progres...
More MLB 2K9 Previews
Following the first hands-on preview two more have arrived. The big concern from these previews is that every one is mentioning issues with the framerate. After last year that is disconcerting and also bodes poorly for the prospects of online play improving.
GAMESPY: Like last year, 2K Sports is boasting a framerate of 60 frames per second for its lead baseball sim. Also like last year, MLB 2K9 didn't back up that promise -- at least in the demo we saw. As the camera panned across the fie...
First Preview of MLB 2K9
Gamespot has posted up a hands-on preview for MLB 2K9, though the hands-on part encompassed only a single inning. They also have four new screenshots for the game.
There's no jaw-dropping feature in MLB 2K9 that looks to reinvent baseball games entirely. What the development team has done, instead, is pay attention to the complaints about MLB 2K8 and directly address them. While the preview code we played still looked and felt early (with graphical hitches aplenty), producers told us the de...
