The Worst Games of 2009
Now that December has arrived and all of the sports titles have been released there will be articles featured throughout the remainder month that look back on the games and big stories of the year. Before starting the countdown on the top 10 games of 2009 the worst has to be cleared out. Last year those were fringe titles FIFA Street 3 and Facebreaker. This time around there is a major franchise included.

MLB 2K9 Blamed for Take Two Losses
The MLB third party license may still have a few years left but it continues to be a drag on Take Two/2K Sports. MLB 2K9 was one of only two (the other being NCAA Football 10) major yearly sports titles that dropped in sales compared to the previous year. It was poorly received by both reviewers and gamers and that clearly affected sales after years of subpar offerings. It has become a second class citizen compared to the MLB: The Show franchise which outsells it despite only being available...
Vote On The Best MLB 2K10 Cover
Earlier today 2K Sports confirmed the selection of Evan Longoria for the cover athlete of MLB 2K10. Though it has been known that he was the choice since the images leaked out on the 15th those were actually placeholders for the final designs that can now be voted on here. The winning cover will be announced sometime after the December 8th deadline though it will probably be obvious beforehand since the updated numbers are displayed after voting.
Personally I would choose from the first t...
Evan Longoria Gets MLB 2K10 Cover
Evan Longoria has been revealed to be the cover athlete for 2K Sports MLB 2K10. As first reported at Kotaku four potential covers were included to be chosen from in a marketing survey with all being different variations of a Longoria cover. 2K has not made any official announcement and may not still for some time. For MLB 2K9 the announcement came on November 11th which was earlier than usual to coincide with and take advantage of the news that Tim Lincecum had won the Cy Young.
Longoria ...
Another Take on the Steve Phillips Situation
Following the news on Steve Phillips last week I broached the question of what that meant for MLB 2K10. The commentary was probably the only redeeming quality from 2K9 and the duo of Gary Thorne and Phillips was made a big marketing point. After these developments it would appear that 2K would have no choice but to make a change. Still with only four months until release the opportunity to do so is limited and makes it a difficult task.

Steve Phillips News Affects MLB 2K10
2K Sports may be scrambling after the recent news of Steve Phillips firing from ESPN and sex scandal. Phillips has admitted to an affair with a co-worker that ended up resulting in what has been described as "fatal attraction-like" behavior by the woman towards Phillips' wife and family. He has since entered a treatment facility that deals with sex addiction.
From a public relations standpoint 2K cannot feature Phillips in the game. Phillips was one half of the commentary team in MLB 2K9 ...
March Sales: The Show Soars While 2K Sinks
This generation has generally shown that despite increased user base sports games don't see significant growth in sales year over year. They remain relatively stagnant seeing only small increases. NPD just released sales numbers for March and the two baseball titles have blown that pattern out of the water. MLB 09 The Show (PS3) saw huge growth while MLB 2K9 (360) actually dropped when compared their 2008 versions.
Last year March sales of MLB 08 The Show didn't make the top 10 so a speci...
MLB 2K9 Patch Now Out
Last year 2K Sports released a patch for MLB 2K8 that wasn't especially effective, and at that didn't even bother to put it out for the PS3. Fortunately this year 2K decided to provide both the 360 and PS3 with a patch that attempts to improve on some of the problem areas in MLB 2K9. It is now out for both systems and the game will prompt you to download it when starting it up.
Areas of focus in the patch include the toning down of CPU batting aggressiveness as well as the frequency of ho...
