2K Sports has announced the winner of the $1 million Perfect Game Contest. The man who won, Wade McGilberry of Alabama, pitched the perfect game on the first day of the contest. By delaying any announcement until now 2K was able to continue advertising the contest in MLB 2K10 commercials even though it had essentially been over since day one. On the first day there were multiple reports coming out of people having pitched perfect games, with some even going as far as to post the code that s...

One of the most well received new features in NBA 2K10 was also introduced in MLB 2K10. MLB Today delivers dynamic commentary and statistics based on the real-life events taking place. With the season having just gotten underway I thought I would take MLB Today for a test spin last night. What I found was very impressive, though the question remains how much appeal there will be in playing one-off games over the course of the year. (more…)...
  • 2K Sports Plans To Support Motion Controls

Based on a statement given in an interview with the[a]listdaily, 2K Sports has made their intention known of supporting the upcoming motion control systems for the PS3 and 360. Playstation Move and Project Natal will both be out in time for the holidays. The discussion was more regarding Move, but it would seem likely that they are looking at offering Natal supported products as well. Presumably the motion controls would be instituted in next year's games and would not be patched into any t...

Last week I posted up polls to gauge the reaction to MLB 10: The Show and MLB 2K10. The results are very interesting. While 2K10 fell about where would be anticipated, the general sense that there is growing discontent towards The Show has been confirmed. Given that the expectations for the two titles were completely different, the numbers are better looked at to analyze the games as individuals rather than for any sort of comparison. (more…)...

After collecting over 46,000 votes based on 20 players faces from MLB 10: The Show and MLB 2K10, it is The Show that comes out on top with a score of 11-8-1. The biggest thing learned through the process and the voting results is that 2K has surged into the discussion and is now hit or miss, just like The Show, instead of terrible across the board as was the case last year. Continue on for a breakdown of the voting on player faces in the two MLB games. (more…)...
  • Are You Satisfied With The Baseball Games This Year?

    Posted March 22nd, 2010 at 8:31 pm 53 Comments »
No one can reasonably expect a perfect game, there will never be one. However consumers do have a right to expect a finished game. What we have this year, with MLB 2K10 and MLB 10: The Show, are arguably unfinished games. They certainly at least released that way, with The Show needing a patch to clear up some big franchise problems and freezes while 2K10 needed one just so people could play online ranked games without getting stuck and having to restart their consoles. And in the case of the ...
