    There is a new creature hitting big screens this summer. Splice stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as two scientists who combine human and animal DNA to create a new species. The film's tagline, 'Science newest miracle...is a mistake', should tell us all we need to know about the results. Guillermo del Toro will produce the film with Vincenzo Natali directing. Splice will be released in theaters on June 4. ...

    One of the biggest film franchises is hitting stores this week in High-Def. The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be released on Blu-ray, and you can bet this will be a hot seller. I was surprised to see Cocoon being released on Blu-ray. I'm not sure why someone would want to see this one in hi-def, but to each their own.   • New ‘Iron Man 2′ TV Spots

    Two new Iron Man 2 T.V. spots have been released courtesy of TheMovieBox.net. Much of what is seen in both spots is footage revealed in previous trailers. We get a glimpse at "Iron Man's" new armor, "Nick Fury", "Black Widow", "War Machine" and "Whiplash". I thought the third spot was better than the second.     Back in February it was reported that ‘Harold and Kumar’ writers, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, would write the script for the new 'American Pie' film.     The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the top selling DVD for the second consecutive week. The Blind Side might not have been able to surpass 'Twilight' in sales, but was the leader in rentals. I'm somewhat surprised Disney's The Princess and the Frog hasn't take the top spot since it's release. Normally, animated Disney films usually sell pretty well.     'Harold & Kumar' fans rejoice! The dynamic duo is teaming up for another movie. Deadline.com is reporting that A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas is set to start production this summer. New Line has set a summer start date on the third installment of the Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle franchise, with the Warner Bros-based company about to hire a director, and seriously considering doing the film in 3D.     After a solid week of movie releases, this one doesn't seem so good. The big movie hitting stores is Sherlock Holmes. The film, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jud Law, scored a 69% 'Fresh Rating' on Rottentomatoes.com. Also worth noting is the release of The Baader Meinhof Complex. The film was rated pretty high by critics, even though it was never really popular and only grossed $296,294 at the box office.
