Wednesday Premieres: Four New Shows
Of this bunch of new shows premiering tonight the one that interests me is Modern Family which has received positive early buzz and reviews. Mercy, which has gotten mixed reviews, could be the biggest hit to come out of the night however. It will be interesting to see the ratings results come tomorrow.
Mercy (8pm NBC)
The day-to-day trials of Mercy Hospital are presented from the perspective of its nurses, particularly the military-hardened Veronica Callahan, whose tour in Iraq makes her...
Rumor: Microsoft Interested in EA
Yet another rumor hitting the rounds today as The Street reports there is some chatter that Microsoft may be looking at purchasing Electronic Arts. The EA stock has risen slightly with the talk as the catalyst. This rumor seems less likely than the one about EA acquiring THQ but it is worth keeping an eye on because of the ramifications of such a deal.
This would certainly be a huge coup for MS if they were to acquire EA as that would give them the ability to have the games as exclusives ...
Rumor: EA Interested in THQ
According to Minyanville several companies are examining a possible takeover of THQ which has been struggling in recent years. Chief among those companies is Electronic Arts with other possibilities mentioned being Time Warner and News Corp. The big interest for EA would be the two significant licenses for the UFC and WWE that THQ holds. UFC 2009 Undisputed has almost single-handedly kept THQ afloat with its impressive sales this year and the WWE license has a lot of potential in the...
Ratings from Monday Night 9/21
The premieres of House and Dancing with the Stars dominated the evening of Monday September 21st while Heroes disappointed. Fox came away with the win for the night, ABC placed second and NBC finished in a distant fourth.
A significant development for House is seen in the 16% increase over last season's premiere. Fox did a great job of really making this premiere an "event" and it really felt a lot like a standalone movie that anyone would enjoy even those who may not have followed the se...
Tuesday Premieres: The Forgotten, NCIS LA, The Good Wife
The Forgotten (10pm ABC)
Christian Slater is back with a new show after the cancellation of My Own Worst Enemy. The Forgotten is another investigative procdedural show and has the look and feel of Cold Case. In this one a group of amateurs attempt to figure out the identities of deceased victims in order to figure out who killed them.
NCIS: Los Angeles (9pm CBS)
After the successful expansion of the CSI brand CBS now looks to do the same with NCIS. The unorthodox pairing of LL Cool J an...
Week Two Ratings Change Suggestions
The roster update for Madden 10 may have been skipped last week but assurances have been made that there will be one out this week. Along with the first patch which is expected within the next few days and the AFL downloadable content coming on Thursday it will be an eventful week for Madden.
After the first few games one standout has been Jets CB Darrelle Revis who has shut down two of the best receivers in the league, Andre Johnson and Randy Moss, in consecutive weeks. His 91 overall sh...
NBA 2K10 Gameplay Footage
Anticipation has been high for NBA 2K10 gameplay footage and now thanks to IGN it has finally arrived. Whether these videos were put out in direct response to the poor showing from the 2K sponsored event the other night we'll never know as were long overdue. Regardless it is good to finally get some quality gameplay footage given the release is only two weeks away.
Included is a video showing the pre-game and a video with three minutes of gameplay with the Cavs @ Lakers. Continue on to ch...
Backbreaker Reappears For Preorder
In my preview of Backbreaker from E3 I noted overriding sense I got that the game was far from release and would likely not come this calendar year. Following E3 there have been no developments to make me believe otherwise. Now comes even more evidence of the game shifting into 2010.
Gamestop has added Backbreaker into the system with a release date of Tuesday April 6th 2010. This does not necessarily look to be a placeholder as they generally use the 1st of a month in those cases. Of cou...
