A bunch of new movies hit theaters this weekend that have their own unique appeal. Surprisingly they are all getting decent to great reviews as well. After a few weeks of mediocre offerings this weekend brings something for everyone. In a world overrun by zombies bands of humans fight for their ability to survive in Zombieland. This isn't as much a horror movie as it is a comedy however, which is a good thing considering all the recent scary movie fare that has come out. Marketing has bee...
  • NBA Live 10 Hard Drive Evaluation

With NBA Live 10 in hand I have gone through and timed different loading areas when running off the disc compared to running off the hard drive on the 360. Installing to the hard drive not only has proven to cut down on load times, in some cases significantly, but it also reduces stress to the system and the noise it produces. Interestingly in the case of NBA Live 10 there is only marginal improvement in the initial boot up to the main menu. In other areas there is more time saved but in ...

NBA Live 10 has arrived and as such here is the posting where you can leave a request for a specific screenshot as well as what teams you would like to see featured in the videos. I'll also be working on getting some player ratings out in the next few days. As far as screen requests please limit them to one player and yours will be more likely chosen if the comment is posted with an Intense Debate, Facebook Connect, or Twitter login. Thanks for understanding it will simply not be possible fo...
  • Madden 10 Roster Update #5 Details

The fifth roster update for Madden 10 is now available. This also represents the first time that team ratings have been updated. That is not something that has changed over the course of previous seasons. Of note is an overdue boost to Joe Flacco taking him up to an 85. Terrell Owens did see a decrease but it was only one point taking him to a still inflated 90. It appears moves such as Jeff Garcia being let go by the Eagles, the Tyler Thigpen trade to the Dolphins, and the benching of Br...
  • NBA 2K10 My Player Impressions

I have a love-hate relationship with career modes in sports titles. I appreciate the ability to control a single player which in turn simplifies the games and presents clear objectives and measurements of success. At the same time I've always come across certain aspects that have soured the overall experience. Those conflicting feelings continue with NBA 2K10's My Player mode. My first thought after spending time with My Player is that it's obviously vastly superior to what was offered wi...

Director Wes Anderson is well known for his oddball comedies such as Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. Now he is bringing his unique flavor to the stop-motion animated film with The Fantastic Mr Fox. Based on a book by acclaimed children's novelist Ronald Dahl, the movie includes the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman. The Fantastic Mr. Fox is slated to release on Thanksgiving. Mr and Mrs Fox live an idyllic home life with their son Ash a...

A lawsuit filed by former NFL player Jim Brown against Electronic Arts over the use of his likeness in past Madden games has been dismissed. Brown had made the claim that having a player similar in make-up to him represented a "false endorsement" even though his name was ever included in the game. The New York Times has a full article on the story here. “The Madden NFL video games are expressive works, akin to an expressive painting that depicts celebrity athletes of past and present in...
  • NCAA Football 10 Patch #3 Released

In an unexpected development EA Sports has released a third patch for NCAA Football 10. It is rare to see more than two patches released for any game because Microsoft and Sony charge a significant sum for each patch after the first two. In the case of NCAA Football 10 putting out a third was a welcome positive gesture considering some of the problems people have had with the game this year. Though for many people it will have been to late to make a difference. This patch addressed the pl...
