  • Review: Fantastic Mr. Fox

Though it is based on the Ronald Dahl children's book Fantastic Mr. Fox really isn't targeted at a younger crowd. If anything it skews older in its style of humor while still being appropriate for all audiences. This is one of the rare movies that I could envision parents really appreciating on their own level while their kids are still kept interested. It may have a tough time selling itself because it is unique and that is unfortunate. Word-of-mouth however will be strong and hopefully tha...

The first "Dynamic Update" for NCAA Basketball 10 came out early Tuesday morning. With it came an updated Top 25 and RPI, authentic schedules, and two new plays. Initially there were some issues with the Top 25 being incorrect but that has since been fixed so anyone that has incorrect rankings just needs to download the update again. Based on reactions in various communities it appears the update has delivered on what it promised. The Top 25 is updated and accurate and the authentic sched...

Earlier today 2K Sports confirmed the selection of Evan Longoria for the cover athlete of MLB 2K10. Though it has been known that he was the choice since the images leaked out on the 15th those were actually placeholders for the final designs that can now be voted on here. The winning cover will be announced sometime after the December 8th deadline though it will probably be obvious beforehand since the updated numbers are displayed after voting. Personally I would choose from the first t...

While there has been no statement that has ruled out a roster update for Madden 10 this week it does seem unlikely given the Thanksgiving holiday. Still it is good to track performance on a weekly basis in order to better evaluate where the roster updates are taking players when they aren't being done as frequently meaning there is more potential to miss things. Darrelle Revis started the year hot and saw his rating boosted to where he was considered a shutdown corner. Though he has not p...

The busiest shopping day of the year is quickly approaching. While I've never thought the savings were at all worth the hassle there are a lot of people who feel differently. Here is a listing of the major stores and their upcoming Black Friday sales on sports titles. Wal-Mart appears to have the best deals with there even being more titles available than just what was listed in their ad and it is worth monitoring Amazon every day. Best Buy Doorbuster sales begin at 5am and are only avai...
  • FlashForward Shuts Down Production

In the past few weeks concern has been raised over the status of FlashForward. Ratings have dropped to levels that brought the future of the series into question. Having ordered a full season it seemed that ABC was at least committed to letting the story play out. That confidence was intended to make viewers feel more comfortable investing in a show long-term after a few years where new series were yanked out from under them before even providing any closure. However viewers have been losing...

It may have broken the record for grosses from midnight showings and for a single day but it could not capture the opening weekend record. The Twilight Saga: New Moon was able to draw $140.7 million through Sunday making it the third biggest opening ever. It falls only behind The Dark Knight with $158 million and Spider-man 3 with $151 million. Everyone was prepared for a huge weekend from New Moon but most were looking for between $85 million and $105 million. There was a smaller drop-of...
