A second developer diary video for Backbreaker has been released. This one focuses on, yet again,  Euphoria. There are still three months until release but I'm looking forward to having different subjects touched on such as how the football basics (rules, AI, play calling, ect) are instituted in the game. 2K Sports has released two blogs detailing the new My Player mode broken into two parts. They include new screenshots from the mode. The first posting can be found here with par...

The decision by Paramount to push Shutter Island back from October 2009 was met with some criticism at the time but has paid off big for the studio. Shutter opened to a massive $40.2 million and dominated the weekend box office. This represented the largest opening weekend gross in the career of both director Martin Scorsese (The Departed $26.9 million) and star Leonardo DiCaprio (Catch Me if You Can $30.1 million). A fascinating story has been brewing over the last couple weeks as Disney attempts to push forward with a plan to shorten the theatrical runs of its films. Generally movies are available to theaters for 17 weeks before they can move to DVD. Disney however is trying to change that to just 12 weeks with the first being Alice in Wonderland which is slated to open on March 5th. (more…)...

Kurt Warner, Bertrand Berry, and Junior Seau have been returned to Madden 10 as the last roster update that will be provided for Madden 10 has arrived. Originally meant to be the final update in early February, the removal of players who had retired following the ending of their season but before the completion of the NFL season created a strong reaction in the community. The comments left in multiple articles and poll results were largely credited with prompting a response. It was the firs...

Lionsgate continues rolling out restricted material for Kick-Ass. As I've written about in past articles they are faced with the necessity of displaying the nature of the film which is explicit with language and violence. That hasn't come across well in the advertising for general audiences however the restricted clips and most recently the red band international trailer have delivered it much better. Today brought the release of the domestic red band trailer. The movie is based on the comi...

SCEA has released screenshots from MLB 10: The Show displaying the top rated players with the initial two positions of focus being first base and catcher. The cover athlete, Joe Mauer, as expected leads the catchers while first base is topped by Albert Pujols with several others trailing close behind in ranking. The Show utilizes a bar system rather than a number to communicate the overall rating. Continue on to view the screenshots and leave your thoughts in the comments! (more…...

With just 10 days left until release both MLB 10: The Show and MLB 2K10 have yet to release their demos. The PSN update arrived yesterday with The Show no where to be found while 2K Sports has announced their plans. The demo for MLB 2K10 will be released on Tuesday for the 360. It will come to the PS3 on March 4th, with that being after release it is essentially conceding the console to the competition. No details on what the demo will entail just yet but it could end up being similar to la...

Only one new film enters the marketplace this weekend as Shutter Island looks to capture the top spot at the box office. If you haven't already make sure to check out my review. It will have to fend off the strong performers from last weekend but seems primed to take away the crown from Valentine's Day. When Shutter Island was moved back from October of last year it was done to give it breathing room, place the studio in a position to fully support it (including a potential Oscar run), and ...
