What was expected to be a largely predictable 82nd Annual Academy Awards turned out to be just that. There was only one result that would largely be considered a surprise, while the few races that had some suspense played out as many had predicted. The Hurt Locker was the big winner coming away with six awards, while Avatar ended as the runner-up with three. The actual show was a mess with some terrible directing, technical issues, unfunny sequences, and an interpretive dance routine that w...

The Line Drive is a weekly collection of news, links, and updates that didn’t necessarily warrant their own postings. Many are already claiming to have pitched qualifying perfect games for the MLB 2K10 contest, going as far as to post pictures of the code that appears after doing so. 2K Sports will not be revealing the winner until June. Given the number of rules involved there is no way to know whether the $1 million contest is, in essence, already over. Much has been made...
  • Final 2010 Oscar Predictions

With the 82nd Annual Academy Awards taking place this evening I wanted to get my final thoughts and predictions out. This is one of the more highly anticipated Oscar ceremonies in years. Much of that due the expansion of the Best Picture nominations to include 10 films which has allowed for a few mainstream inclusions that may have not been nominated otherwise. Despite that, it is really only a race between two, with two other extreme dark horses looming. Make sure to check back shortly after ...
  • Fringe Renewed for Third Season

Great news today as Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Fox has picked up the sci-fi show Fringe for a third season. While the show has strong support from reviewers and fans it has been in some danger due to the relatively high production costs and ratings that have not been strong enough to make renewal a sure thing. It seemed like a good bet that it would be coming back but many saw Fox as having to make a decision between it and Lie to Me. No word on the latter as of yet but it is in a ...
  • Huge Opening Day for Alice In Wonderland

Showing just how much impact 3D can have on an already high interest film, Alice in Wonderland opened to a massive $41 million on Friday. That puts it on track for a weekend take of around $115 million. The Oscars could slightly impact its Sunday gross. With this the film has broken the record for the biggest opening day for a non-sequel and now has the second biggest opening day of all-time behind only Twilight: New Moon. Blowing by the expectations that pegged it in the $60-70 range, Alic...
  • NFL Offseason Transactions in Madden Screenshots – Set #1

As I did last year I will be tracking the movement in NFL free agency and any trades that are made and posting screenshots of the players in their new uniforms using Madden 10. The first complete day of free agency saw a handful of big names sign and a few trades completed. The Bears and Lions have been the two most active teams but the Dolphins, Ravens, Falcons, Giants and Jets have acquired new players as well. The Cardinals take the biggest hit having lost four of the best players since the...
  • MLB 2K10 Online Play Will Require Patch
    by

After investigating the issue previously reported on, 2K Sports now states that the fix to online play will be coming via patch. That means that ranked games, at least on a frequent basis, could be largely inaccessible for at a minimum of a few weeks. More likely it will be well over a month under the assumption that they roll it into the first gameplay patch. To give an idea of the severity of this online problem had it been discovered by Microsoft and Sony then MLB 2K10 would have failed ...

The official website for NCAA Football 11 has gone live and includes some new content. The first blog goes over in a little more detail a few of the new features that were originally revealed last week. The topics covered include on-field referees and formation substitutions. There are also new mascots for the game that are being unveiled on a weekly basis. It appears that Teambuilder will remain unchanged from last year, and that teams already created for NCAA 10 will be usable in NCAA 11....
