Originally on my top 10 anticipated films of the holiday season, I never got around to seeing Brothers when it was in theaters. I had high expectations for the movie based on a compelling trailer that contrasted a drama with elements of a thriller. Interestingly the trailer, while it gave away some general themes of the movie, didn't give away as much as I had originally thought. The movie was much more of a grounded character drama and was driven by some terrific performances. (more&helli...

There has already been much written here about how the studios now pushing forward with more 3D films given the success of Avatar and even more recently Alice in Wonderland. The LA Times has an article today that states theaters are raising ticket prices by about 8% this weekend. That coincides with the release of How to Train Your Dragon, and a week later Clash of the Titans. The average surcharge on 3D will now be $4. IMAX is also going up about 10% with the average additional cost over a re...

With the debut of the series, online play for UFC 2009 featured only ranked fights and had no draw other than personal stats. However in an attempt to bolster the feature set and overall online experience, THQ will be adding in an online league structure for UFC 2010 Undisputed. Stick Skills has cited information in the May edition of OXM that details among other things the debut of online leagues. Naturally, the online component is back, and not only will you take fights to Xbox Live, but ...

A report today in the Philadelphia Daily News stated that the Rams and Eagles were close to making a deal which would involve Donovan McNabb being sent to the Rams in exchange for their second round pick (#33) and possibly also include OJ Atogwe. This has apparently been denied by a Rams source but the rumor continues to swirl nonetheless. When I first heard this I found it hard to believe. McNabb could make St. Louis better in the short term sure, maybe help them towards a few more wins, b...

After collecting over 46,000 votes based on 20 players faces from MLB 10: The Show and MLB 2K10, it is The Show that comes out on top with a score of 11-8-1. The biggest thing learned through the process and the voting results is that 2K has surged into the discussion and is now hit or miss, just like The Show, instead of terrible across the board as was the case last year. Continue on for a breakdown of the voting on player faces in the two MLB games. (more…)...
  • Michael Bay Not a Fan of 3D Conversions

In my review of Alice in Wonderland I talk about how mediocre the 3D effects are given that it was converted after being filmed. Early reports are similar for the next in the line of 3D conversions, Clash of the Titans.  Apparently Michael Bay agrees as he has now stated, after having a test run on some Transformers footage, that the conversion process results in something that "looks like fake 3D". He is currently fighting with Paramount over whether or not Transformers 3 will be released ...

You can read the blog in its entirety along with a short video from Madden 10 showing some of the types of catches they are hoping to eliminate from the game right here.
