With the overwhelming negative response to the Strategy Pad in Madden 11 it was only a matter of time before EA Sports would officially respond. That came even a little quicker than expected with a new blog that has just been released that goes over the reasoning behind the change while acknowledging the uproar and communicating the ultimate solution. The old style of pre-snap adjustments will be patched into the game though it will probably be September by the time it arrives. We do believe ...

Good news for anyone that frequents the Redbox movie rental machines. For a while now the company has planned to offer Blu-ray discs along with the DVDs and now that time has arrived. Blu-ray discs are now being stocked in over 13,000 of the kiosks nationwide. The plan is for all (over 23,000) machines to have them by fall. Blu-ray discs will go for $1.50 a night compared to DVDs which are $1 a night....

IGN has posted up the first hands-on preview for NBA 2K11. Most of the focus is on player control, the lack of which has been one of the central complaints towards the 2K series over the years. That looks to change this year with animations that can be broken out of and refined controls. The game will also receive some new options including Total Control Passing and a new play calling system with plays designed for individuals, both of which were first introduced last year in NBA Live 10. Whi...
  • Ellen DeGeneres and Kara Dioguardi Out as American Idol Judges. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler in.

Earlier today Fox and Ellen DeGeneres announced their mutual split from American Idol despite what was supposed to be a multi-year contract. Apparently DeGeneres found it difficult to criticize singers throughout last season (the ninth) of the show which saw a drop in ratings that came with a weak crop of contestants. Many felt she just parroted the thoughts of the other judges anyway. Her departure now means AI has lost half of the judging panel with the real star of the show Simon Cowell now...

Though NCAA Football 11 has been received extremely well it was inevitable that there would be issues discovered with the game in serious need of being addressed. The biggest ones have been the QBs getting stuck in animations (PA rollout screen plays) and running backwards for safeties and generated recruits coming in with some terrible ratings resulting in really weak teams after a few years in dynasty. According to EA Sports the next patch for NCAA 11 is on track to arrive sometime in mid...

Ever since the release of the demo for Madden 11 the community has been up-in-arms as it relates to the Strategy Pad which moved all pre-snap adjustments to the D-Pad. There are certainly multiple valid reasons why people are upset about the new procedure being introduced but one that may be harder to explain is how it "just doesn't feel right". GoMadden has put together a video that goes over in more technical detail why the placement of the D-Pad on the controller makes the change one of mor...
  • Comic-Con Trailer: Thor

The first looks at Thor that came via production photos elicited anything but enthusiastic response from fans looking forward to the Marvel film. However everything seemed to turn with the panel held at Comic-Con. The crowd in attendance totally bought into the footage that was shown and it became one of the big winners of the convention (other than the pointless 3D addition). Now the trailer that appeared at Comic-Con has emerged! Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic ...

2K Sports has released the full soundtrack for NBA 2K11. I recognize maybe seven or eight of the artists so I really have no idea whether the complete lineup is going to be an enjoyable one. Snoop Dogg contributed an original song to be the theme for the game this year and I'm strangely intrigued that a song by Ron Artest has been included. Continue on to check out the full track listing and leave your thoughts in the comments! (more…)...
