The Washington Redskins go on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles in a set of videos that cover the entirety of the game. It was definitely an entertaining one and for those of you out there who watch through it all I think it shows off some of the mixed bag that is Madden 11. If you watch more selectively I'd suggest the first and fourth videos. I've also included a segment of gameplay from a Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders game where I mixed in some Tim Tebow using the formation that i...

I've been concentrating all my time now on Madden 11 with the goal to post up full impressions of the game on Sunday evening. In the meantime I am working on getting up some videos and screenshots. The first full game (featuring the Redskins @ Eagles) and a portion of another (Broncos @ Raiders) will be up sometime late tonight given the lengthy process required. Having taken some requests on Twitter and Facebook I've grabbed 20 screenshots from the game thus far. You can check them out in ...
  • Madden 11 Hard Drive Evaluation

Continuing with the series of Xbox 360 hard drive installation evaluations I've gone through and compared several aspects of Madden 11 based on loading times from the disk vs the hard drive. Thankfully the Madden series has fared much better in the way of loading times and smooth menu navigation as opposed to NCAA Football over the last few years. With Madden 11 the loading times are a bit shorter from the disc and comparable from the hard drive when put up against Madden 10 and the actual gam...
  • NHL 11 Bringing Lots of DLC Options

If you like to pay for downloadable content in the form of attribute boosts you'll love how NHL 11 is shaping up. The game features 156 different power-ups of various strength to choose from to be applied to Be a Pro players. NHL 10 was really the first game to introduce DLC that created competitive balance issues online as boosts were activated for those players that could then be used in EASHL. It doesn't appear that EA has changed their mind on allowing advantages to those who are willing t...
  • Review: The Other Guys

Coming out of Comic-Con the most immediate release that had my anticipation raised from attending a panel for was The Other Guys. Footage was shown, which included some from the film and some that didn't make the cut, and it was out of control funny. Part of me thinks that experience having raised expectations somewhat damaged my ultimate enjoyment of the film and the same goes with the advertising that has probably given away too much. While I found the movie to be quite funny it wasn't the c...
  • More Influential: Michael Jordan or NBA Jam?

The NBA is pretty much the only sport these days that features a legit head-to-head competition between companies. That is being evidenced even more this year with both 2K Sports and EA Sports making big moves for consumer interest and market share. 2K Sports signed Michael Jordan as the cover athlete and NBA Elite 11 includes a free downloadable copy of NBA Jam. Which one will have a stronger influence on a potential purchase decision? Michael Jordan: The greatest NBA player of all time is...
  • Backbreaker Patch Now Available

The patch for Backbreaker is now available for both the 360 and PS3 and seems to have at the very least provided some improvement in the areas that really needed it. The most discussed issues now, being seen due to the introduction of the patch, appear to be a high rate of dropped passes and custom team rosters with ratings changing league wide and messed up depth charts. Those are legit concerns to monitor but otherwise the early impressions are largely positive with additions such as expande...

I came across this story earlier today and thought it was interesting enough to pass along. Defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock, an All-American at Ohio State and 2007 third round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts suddenly retired at age 24 after his rookie season. Yesterday he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks and now details on what led to his retirement and how he has since overcome those difficulties have emerged. Pitcock suffered from depression which led him to retire and shut himself off...
