  • THQ May Move Away From Releasing an Annual UFC Game

Recently THQ blamed Red Dead Redemption for the relatively poor sales of UFC Undisputed 2010 when compared to the breakout hit of UFC 2009. Thankfully it now appears that they recognize there was a lot more to why the game faltered than just competition for dollars in the marketplace. While they don't cite the quality of the game being an issue (actually referencing its 85 metacritic) what they seem to have realized is an annual UFC game may not be justifiable. "We're considering a longer dev...

While my full impressions of the game went up yesterday (with online impressions to come later this week) I thought I'd get up another set of videos. There are three of them, two of which feature the Seahawks @ Giants and the other is the Chargers @ Chiefs in the rain. In addition I have added 27 screenshots to the gallery many of which came from requests in previous postings or from Twitter/Facebook. EA Sports has released a new trailer focusing on the "Become Legendary" mode in NBA Elite 11. Become Legendary is the name being given to what would be most recognized as Be a Pro in NHL or FIFA. Created players in the mode will also be used in the online EASBA (similar to EASHL in NHL). Both were originally discovered back in June but EA Sports had yet to publicly acknowledge them until now. The trailer pushes the Gamestop pre-order and bonus but does provide the first discussion of the th...

As expected The Other Guys came in #1 at the box office this weekend though slightly exceeding industry expectations. Inception, which had won its first three weekends, slipped to #2 but again held extremely well. The other new opener Step Up 3D had a decent opening but didn't reach the heights that the first two in the series had. The Adam McKay directed The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, made $35.6 million. The movie had heavy promotion and even got primarily good re...

For Madden 11 EA Sports decided to take the approach of making the game ultra-accessible and in doing so may have alienated some of the dedicated gamers who buy the game on a year-to-year basis. Madden 11 certainly remains fun though and has its bright spots but at the same time houses some nagging flaws and omissions. Continue on for my detailed impressions of Madden 11 having taken a ton of notes through my play time with the game. There are also additional screenshots and videos to be had. ...

The Line Drive is a weekly collection of news, links, and updates that didn’t necessarily warrant their own postings. I was a guest on The Madden Voice last week talking about, of course, Madden 11. This was before I had the full game but most of what was discussed was more general direction of the series and expectations. You can download that show from this link or visit the page to listen through the in-browser player. New NBA 2K11 blog goes over AI improvements to both ...
