EA Sports released an update yesterday that changed the way wins and losses are reported online in Madden 11. One of the big issues so far with online play had been the ability for quitting to take place in the first half of ranked games and at any point in Madden Ultimate Team games with no penalty in the way of a loss being tagged to the quitter and no win being presented to the person quit on. Now quitters will receive a loss no matter when they depart a ranked game and those quit on wil...
  • Review: Piranha 3D

Piranha 3D wasn't screened early for critics, which is usually an indication that a film isn't going to be received well. Instead the filmmakers just thought the audience being targeted wasn't exactly represented properly by critics so they held off on it. Ironically, critics have come through with generally positive reviews (currently sitting at 83% on RT) and what appears to be some early encouraging word of mouth from audiences. Embracing its outlandish nature is what makes Piranha 3D st...

I've seen quite a bit of chatter today regarding some thoughts that initial indications are the sales for Madden 11 have been disappointing. At this point there is absolutely no concrete data to suggest sales are down. However this CNBC article seems to have stirred up discussion by making some purely unsubstantiated assumptions. While we won't know the official sales numbers for Madden's first month until mid-September there are some things to examine now. (more…)...

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 will ship with a one-time-use code to access online play functionality. The "Online Pass" style program, which THQ has not given their own name to, debuted with UFC Undisputed 2010. However now the company has raised the cost of purchasing access to $10 for those who end up with used copies and there will now be a trial period available. For UFC 2010 it was $5 and no option for a trial period was provided. THQ faced serious heat over the level of communication and ...

Summit has released the first trailer for the Fair Game, which is based on the accounts of former CIA operative Valerie Plame. The movie attempts to tell the story of what happened when Plame was outed as being a CIA op after her husband started questioning the Bush administration regarding the truth behind the justification to go into Iraq. It takes into consideration the book from Plame, "Fair Game", as well as her husband Joe Wilson's "The Politics of Truth". Directed by Doug Liman (The Bo...

  • NBA Elite 11 Physics Focused Video

EA Sports has released a new video that goes over the real-time physics that has been implemented in NBA Elite 11. Things like weight being a big factor, the ability to break out of animations, the ball being knocked away dynamically, and improved rebounding are touched on. This is probably the first video for NBA Elite 11 that I've felt shone it in a largely positive light, though I still have great deal of trepidation towards the title based on all the past looks at the game and the way i...
