With Madden 11 out for two weeks now and having let some of my initial feelings settle with additional play-time I thought it would be interesting to isolate some of the accomplishments in the game along with some areas that it whiffed on. I've listed out what I perceive to be the top five hits and top five misses for Madden 11. In addition to this make sure to check out my full impressions and online impressions which present more comprehensive reports on the game. Continue on to check out th...

Though it wasn't a huge splash at the box office Piranha 3D did well enough considering its budget to warrant a sequel as Dimension Films has announced today that development has already begun. No details on the story have been given and it doesn't appear a script has even been written yet. Though I didn't completely buy into the movie (review here) it has gotten surprisingly good reviews all around and having been made for just $24 million it is well on its way to becoming profitable. For ...

  • Expendables Holds Off Five Newcomers at the Box Office

It was a relatively weak run at the box office where last week's #1 film, The Expendables, dropped 53% to $16.5 million but remained in the top spot despite the opening of five new films. All of the new openers had decent openings considering their budgets but none broke out to be hits. Coming in second was Vampires Suck, which sits amongst the worst reviewed movies of all-time but still made $12.2 million and now sits at $18.5 million since coming out on Wednesday. The parody movie which f...

News today that Sony is investigating putting together its own "online pass" like system for all first party titles, and that would include the MLB: The Show franchise. EA Sports and THQ now provide one-time-use codes in all sports titles that provide access to online functionality. However for those who pick up the game used it costs $10 to access online play. Presumably Sony is considering something similar that would go into affect in the near future. No word yet on the specifics of how ...

The Line Drive is a weekly collection of news, links, and updates that didn’t necessarily warrant their own postings. NFL 2011 for the iPhone has been dropped to .99 from its original $6.99. Check out impressions on it here. Not sure if this is permanent but likely a response to Madden 11's release crushing it now. ESPN has a feature on the shoes included in NBA 2K11. The game will have 40 different shoes including 25 different versions of Air Jordans. A series of fi...
