NBA 2K11 has now been out for two weeks allowing plenty of time to assess what the game has done well and where it fell short. While there are certainly some issues to look at for an upcoming patch the game delivered in just about every way imaginable. Here are what I perceive to be the hits and misses for NBA 2K11. This summer EA Sports officially unveiled their long rumored fitness game featuring the NFL. Known as EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp it is slated to release for the Wii on November 16th. Since that initial announcement there have been little info or promotion on the game but a feature list and trailer recently arrived. For now NFL Training Camp is exclusive to the Wii. Considering the 360 and PS3 have their own motion based systems now with Kinect and Move it would seem likely that it w...

Soaring past all expectations Jackass 3D turned in the biggest opening weekend for a September or October release in history with $50 million. Industry expectations had pegged the film to make just over $30 million for the weekend but it crushed on Friday alone with $22 million. Jackass 3D certainly benefited by the higher ticket prices that come with 3D but it was more about the extra appeal it provided. The movie was sold on the 3D premise and that it would enhance the experience. It was ...

The Line Drive is a weekly collection of news, links, and updates that didn’t necessarily warrant their own postings. The next Madden 11 patch, slated for November, will include a fix for online disconnects that have been occurring at an increased rate since the last patch. Peter Moore sees a future where FIFA wouldn't be disc based but rather a persistently updated online world. That is still a ways off from happening but the direction many sports games could go. Re...

Expectations for EA Sports MMA have been raised ever since the positive reaction to the game and the compelling feature announcements made back at E3. Despite the demo being received well it feels like the game has lost a bit of steam leading up to release however. A few gameplay videos have come out as media outlets have received their copies and are testing out new features such as Live Broadcast. Continue on for a look at two recent Live Broadcast events. Currently spectating of the Live...

RED stands for "Retired and Extremely Dangerous" which is a classification given to only the best spies after they move on from their career. When an attempt to kill Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) fails it sets off a series of events that brings himself, along with some of his old friends, back to bring down a conspiracy. The movie is based on the graphic novel from Warren Ellis and while it retains some of the elements that made that work it ultimately falls flat. (more…)...

A full theatrical trailer for the Nicolas Cage action film Drive Angry 3D has arrived and follows a teaser that was released coming out of Comic-Con. Cage plays a man who goes on a rampage after the murder of his daughter and kidnapping of her baby. Amber Heard and William Fichtner also star with the movie having been filmed in 3D rather than converted in post-production. I got to see some extended footage at Comic-Con, and for a movie that I had not even heard of prior I walked away lookin...
