Class Action Lawsuit Still Little Threat to Madden or Exclusive Licenses
Last week a judge certified a class action lawsuit against Electronic Arts with the argument being made that the company has overcharged for the Madden franchise ever since signing the exclusive license deal with the NFL in 2005. The certification as class action really isn't much of a development though, it doesn't mean that it has any better chance of being successful, and it doesn't change the fact that the suit in question is faulty in its claims. Little Fockers Wins Holiday Weekend
Despite having made nearly $50 million in its five days of release Little Fockers is being viewed as a disappointment. It comes in well below the box office take of its predecessor Meet the Fockers which drew $70.5 million over the same stretch in 2004. Bad buzz, terrible reviews, and six years between films in a franchise that audiences had already grew tired of contributed to the drop. Review: Frozen
Frozen brings a high concept story, three people are left unknowingly on a ski-lift and have to decide how to save themselves, and does so with unusual control and intelligence. Though it has its share of questionable moments it is a tense thriller that makes the viewer question themselves along with the characters as to the thought process of being in the situation at hand.  (more…)...

Extended Trailer for I Am Number Four
Dreamworks has released an extended theatrical trailer for the upcoming sci-fi adaptation of I Am Number Four. Based on the novel of the same name and being prepped as a potential franchise, the story focuses on a member of an alien race that escaped to Earth and is being hunted down. Review: Easy A
Easy A looks to borrow some of its formula and charm from the popular teen comedies of the 80's while acknowledging and attempting to avoid some of the cliches. In some sense the film is successful, with likable characters though many that fall into the high school stereotypes, and a story that feels fresh even though it is largely predictable. Easy A is not a great film and it has its share of cringe-worthy moments but it remains mostly enjoyable. (more…)...
