The viability of developing a full sequel to Backbreaker took a devastating hit due to terrible reviews and low sales. Despite that the brand's mobile apps have been immensely popular and well received. Both the original Backbreaker and Backbreaker 2: Vengeance have collected several million in revenues. Based on a new screenshot for an upcoming game released today by developer NaturalMotion it appears they may be bringing the "Tackle Alley" package to the Xbox 360 and PS3. The image show...

Director Zack Snyder's reboot of Superman now has its villain. Michael Shannon has been officially cast in the role of General Zod in Man of Steel. Zod comes from Krypton where he commanded the planet's armed forces, and was portrayed in the original Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980) by Terence Stamp. Snyder: “Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is...

It was a disappointing weekend at the box office as the animated family film Hop held onto the crown in easy fashion. The comedies Arthur and Your Highness disappointed while the action film Hanna and Christian-themed 'based on a true story' Soul Surfer performed well given expectations and smaller budgets. Hop collected another $21.7 million as it fell a reasonable 42% facing little competition in the targeted demographic. That will change with the release of Rio next week. Despite gener...

Multiple sources have informed me there are some major changes taking place at EA Tiburon specifically relating to the Madden NFL franchise. Several high level members of the development team are apparently on their way out and may be joining a new studio that is being founded by a former Tiburon executive. When made public some of the names exiting the studio will be immediately recognizable to those who closely follow the series. On Friday The Orlando Business Journal reported on the ne...

The ultra-popular MLB.com At Bat mobile app has received a number of upgrades for this year and even takes advantage of video game resources. MLB.com At Bat 11 now features graphics for each individual ballpark rather than one generic ballpark and the players wear official home and road uniforms. Those assets come directly from MLB 11: The Show. There is also a planned update to insert individual player's batting stances to come later this year. The MLB.com At Bat app was the top grossing...
  • Fight Night Champion Gets Another Tuner Update Next Week

The recent patch and tuner update for Fight Night Champion was generally well received though some issues still remained. Another tuner set is expected to arrive next week and hopes to address at least one of them. Jab spamming, particularly exploited online, is what is being targeted in the next update. EA Sports has also noted that another patch is in the works for the game and that it will include fixes for some of the crashes and freezes being experienced both online and offline. Cons...
