As Netflix prepares to lose the biggest contributor to their streaming service early next year in Starz they have been actively working to add new content. The latest deal involves TV network AMC - who's Mad Men and Breaking Bad has already been made available on Netflix - but will be providing even more going forward. The big score comes with The Walking Dead - the hugely popular zombie show adapted from the comics. Season one of The Walking Dead is available today on Netflix and futu...

Madden NFL 12 released in a fairly good state - at least compared to sister product NCAA Football 12. While it certainly had areas in which improvement could be provided through a patch there were no broken features or completely pressing issues that demanded attention. Instead the patch could be used to enhance certain aspects of the game and fix various annoyances. Areas most discussed in regards for the upcoming patch included the constant rain in Franchise mode affecting a few teams, ...

The follow-up patch for NCAA Football 12 went live last night for the PS3 and today for the Xbox 360 to address an issue introduced in early September. No-huddle has been fixed after the last patch inadvertently resulted in severe limitations of play selection for both the offense and defense. There have been no indications as of yet whether this patch represents finality for NCAA 12's post-release support. (Update) I've now been informed a third patch is in the works but when it will come a...

Earlier this summer began an experiment to see how well movies would sell on-demand before they arrived on DVD/Blu-ray - even potentially while still in theaters a two months after release - for $30 through DirectTV. Returns were not particularly encouraging with studios determining that the wait from theatrical release as well as the price were prohibitive to its success. Now a tweak is being made to see how it could work under different circumstances. In this case November's Tower He...

The post-week four roster update for Madden NFL 12 features over 400 roster, ratings, and equipment adjustments. As anticipated the big move comes with Calvin Johnson obtaining the elite "Clutch" player trait status while also getting a bump up by a single point to 96 overall. No movement at the top as all 99 and 98 rated players remain the same - however Nnamdi Asomugha falls from 97 to 96, Jake Long drops from 97 to 95, and Ray Lewis moves up from 96 to 97. The largest leap goes to Colt...

Since release NBA 2K12 has struggled mightily in the area of online play - something that comes as little surprise to veterans of the series. Occasional updates from 2K Sports over the last two days have indicated work continues to get things operating properly and improve the experience but little in the way of results are being seen thus far. 2K12 has suffered from a wide range of online related issues leading to a great deal of consumer frustration. (more…)...

The follow-up to the universally praised NBA 2K11 arrived yesterday - with NBA 2K12 presenting additional legends and historic teams, gameplay and presentation enhancements, improved My Player mode, and a new online component to Association mode. The league lockout has siphoned off some of the anticipation levels however and affected the game by negating the value of some modes and leaving rosters generally in the same state as last year while even preventing the insertion of rookies. For...
  • NBA 2K12 Hard Drive Loading Evaluation

With NBA 2K12 in hand the first thing to check on as always was loading times when playing from the disc up against those when installed to the Xbox 360 hard drive. 2K12 represents the largest install I've ever come across and possible to date on the 360 - it utilizes the new discs that have additional storage space and comes in at a massive 7.9 GB. Loading times in general are reasonable on the disc with the install doing little to improve on them though helping in fluidity of navigation.Â...
