Last week 2K Sports made the surprising announcement that the servers for NBA 2K11 would be taken offline in the middle of November. The company immediately took a great deal of PR heat for the decision. Timing wise the move couldn't have been worse (due to the league lockout and 2K12's admitted online problems) and there had been no precedent for ending online services only 13 months after release of a game. NBA 2K11 was immensely popular, it is among the highest selling games this calendar...

Just yesterday Eddie Murphy dropped out as host of the Oscars - which followed on the heels of the departure of producer Brett Ratner. Taking Ratner's place running the show is Brian Grazer and today it has been confirmed that Billy Crystal has been chosen as the new host. It's not surprising, given the recent controversies, that the Academy would go with a familiar and safe choice. This will be Crystal's 9th time hosting the show....

SCEA has selected Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez to appear on the cover of MLB 12: The Show. Gonzalez comes off his first year with Boston having batted .338 with 27 home runs and 117 RBIs along with receiving the Gold Glove at 1B in the American League. The choice will be seen as somewhat questionable given the historic collapse of the Red Sox late in the season and the surrounding controversy that has since followed. His numbers however can back up the decision and a stron...

  • Eddie Murphy No Longer Hosting The Oscars

When it was announced two months ago many found the choice of Eddie Murphy to host The Oscars an inspired one. The show has struggled in recent years with bland, tired headliners or those that disappointed to cringe-worthy levels. Brett Ratner was slated to produce the show and picked the star of his film Tower Heist (which just released last week). Ironically it is Ratner that ended up costing Murphy the gig given his departure from the production. Ratner has come under fire lately for c...
