  • Fan Voting Opens for NHL 13 Cover

With the success of the cover votes for their other sports titles it comes as little surprise that EA Sports is now spreading a similar initiative to the NHL series. The cover athlete of NHL 13 is being determined by fan voting with the first round already underway. All of the 30 teams have two representatives to start which is similar to how Madden NFL 13 handled it. One player will advance from each team to the round of 30 where things change somewhat. Instead of a tournament bracket th...

Having become the underdog after years of eroding the fan base with sub-par releases and the aborted attempt at a reboot EA Sports is attempting a comeback with NBA Live 13. It will be an uphill battle to reestablish credibility and grow sales - one that really can't afford blunders along the way. Despite that they've already made one warranting serious criticism.  (more…)...
  • Purchasing DLC Courses for Tiger Woods 13 on PS3 Causing Headaches and Lost Cash

While the 16 courses available as downloadable content for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 can be had in any number of ways on the Xbox 360 they can't be purchased in the typical fashion over on the PS3. The courses aren't available on PSN/SEN to buy outright. Instead money has to be spent on buying enough in-game "coins" to obtain the courses. It's not about the inconvenience of the matter but rather how the available packs of "coins" don't equal to the costs of the DLC courses. That means some ...
  • Madden NFL 13 Cover Tournament Advances to Sweet 16 After Uneventful Round

The Madden NFL 13 cover tournament has reached the Sweet 16! No true surprises emerged from the last round. Most of the higher seeds won and the few that didn't probably weren't truly deserving of the seeding they were given. The big news is Arian Foster knocking out Tim Tebow but really that shouldn't be thought of as an upset. Foster should have been considered a tournament favorite, Tebow didn't even really have a team's fan base to call his own for much of the week, and there are just...
  • MLB 2K12 and MLB 12: The Show Player Face Comparison Results

MLB 12: The Show won out in the player face battle against MLB 2K12 by a greater margin than originally anticipated. Though once again each game had their share of faces that turned out better than the opposition 2K12 had far more that were missed on in and usually in embarrassing fashion. Over 41,000 total votes were cast and the final tally comes in at 21-6 in favor of The Show. That represents a significant percentage increase over 2011 (14-6) and 2010 (11-8-1). Continue on for a look ...

Today marks the fifth anniversary of Pastapadre launching! It's been a fascinating journey that began with very little in the way of expectations but has constantly surprised with the site's rapid and continued growth and increased influence. Being able to operate independently of restraints and outside pressure have been the key - allowing for proper analysis that takes into conside...
  • DLC Course Prices Rise with Tiger Woods 13

One important feature addition with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 is the ability to secure rounds on downloadable content courses using "coins" earned in-game. It'll take some time to evaluate the rate "coins" are earned and how much time with DLC courses that will equate to but early indications are it will not be plentiful enough to significantly erode the value of the DLC and the potential revenue EA Sports expects to earn from it. Taking into account that some consumers may now attempt to a...
