For the third straight year EA Sports has broken their own record to deliver the biggest sports game launch of all-time. Beginning with FIFA 11 (2.6 million) and topped by FIFA 12 (3.2 million) those worldwide sales records have now been shattered by FIFA 13. An astonishing 4.5 million copies of FIFA 13 have been sold in the first 5 days on the market. That makes it the biggest videogame launch of the year and the fastest selling sports title ever. The news started rolling in quickly t...

A second post-release patch for Madden NFL 13 is set to arrive on October 16 and it is a truly significant one. The first patch for the game delivered a few improvements while another server-side update added Fantasy Drafts. This upcoming patch is bringing with it some tremendous improvements and additions. Along with lacking Fantasy Drafts the initial backlash towards Connected Careers mode had primarily to do with the inability to edit players and that functionality is being added in th...

One neat authentic touch that began with Madden NFL 11 was incorporating the Breast Cancer Awareness month in the series. Pink accessories for both players and referees, goal post padding, field art, kicking tees, sideline caps, ribbons for coaches, and a ribbon on the football (among other elements of the program) made their way into Madden games that took place in October in Franchise and for the entirety of the month through a designated BCA mode for Play Now while being reflected within ...

One generally overlooked aspect of sports titles, where the in and out of games can result in significant time spent waiting around, is the efficiency in loading times. Series like NCAA Football and MLB: The Show have suffered tremendously due to extensive loading times. NBA 2K, on the other hand, has been extremely crisp in recent years. That is the case yet again with NBA 2K13 which has brisk loading times and still even benefits some from being installed on the Xbox 360 hard drive. ...

With the offseason additions of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard the Los Angeles Lakers enter NBA 2K13 as the top rated team in the game. Despite winning the championship and adding Ray Allen the Miami Heat don't hold the top spot but come in at number two instead which is sure to incite debate. The Thunder follow behind at three while the Bulls, presumably with Derrick Rose factoring in despite his injury, enter as the fourth highest team. Continue on to check out the defensive, offensive, and ...

With the release of NBA 2K13 today content was added for the game on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and there are a couple of new arrivals that previously had not been discussed. It was already known that "VC" (the unit of currency for building MyPlayers and MyTeams) could be purchased. However there are additional options available to choose from now as well. The most interesting of the bunch is a Spanish broadcast team featuring Antoni Daimiel and Sixto Miguel Serrano from Canal+ along with Jo...

A quarter of the season is in the books for most teams - a few actually had their bye in week four - and a number of teams and players have emerged for either positive reasons or troubled ones. The Cardinals, Falcons, and Texans are the remaining unbeatens while the Browns and Saints are the only teams to be stuck in the league cellar at 0-4. Standout performances in week four features names like Greg Zuerlein, Scott Chandler, Brandon Mebane, Cameron Wake, J.J. Watt, Sean Smith, Alfred Mo...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes was one of the surprise films last year surpassing both box office and critical/audience expectations. Director Rupert Wyatt had hoped to return for the sequel, but recently had to drop out, leaving Fox to find someone new to take over. The studio targeted Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) and today announced he is officially on board to direct Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The film is being written by the same duo as the first and will continue the sto...
