In April it was announced that the special "Legend Edition" of NBA 2K17 would celebrate the career of Kobe Bryant. The standard edition of the game however will feature a current player - Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. It's no surprise that George was the choice considering his relationship with 2K Sports. George most recently fronted the NBA 2K16 mobile app and appeared in the special edition Kobe commerical. With the number of premier players essentially eliminated from contention (...

The free games that are provided monthly as a part of the PlayStation Plus service have helped justify the costs beyond the ability to just access online features on the PlayStation 4. Very often they've been compelling titles and even included brand new ones like Rocket League. Sony today announced the lineup of games for June, and while it's unclear what date they'll be first made available for free (possibly tomorrow) the big news is that NBA 2K16 is one of them! Sports games have gene...

With very little fanfare or promotion the launch of 3on3 FreeStyle on PlayStation 4 had been advertised by publisher JoyCity to happen at some point in May. Up until yesterday the official website for the game continued to advertise its release for the month despite how that clearly wasn't going to end up happening. Today however a new plan for the game was revealed. The unlicensed multiplayer street basketball game has been delayed and will be coming at some as-of-yet unspecified poin...

While it's inevitable that people will find exploits or elements of gameplay in sports titles that are used to unnatural advantage when playing others, more work has probably been done with Madden NFL 17 to combat than than was seen with the series in the past. In the latest developer blogs EA Sports has gone over some of the improvements made to more realistically balance the scales and give both sides an opportunity to react and adjust.  (more…)...

Despite the importance of special teams in football it has never received the attention it deserved in the Madden series. That looks to finally be changing with Madden NFL 17 and further details have been released on what to expect. While unfortunately it looks like surprise onside kicks have been left out yet again, and the return blocking hasn't been worked on, there's a lot to be excited about for what had been largely mundane waste-of-time plays in the video games having failed ...

Some big name starting pitchers have taken a hit to their ratings with the latest roster update for MLB The Show 16. Matt Harvey, Sonny Gray, and Dallas Keuchel have struggled mightily early this season and their attributes are now beginning to reflect that. Harvey is one of the players that has disappointed the most this year. He's 3-7 with a 6.08 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. After opening MLB 16 with a rating of 94 he has now dropped to 88. Gray is now down 5 points from where he began the sea...
