EA Play and E3 are right around the corner, with the big EA press briefing taking place on Sunday, but the company has pushed out the first news on FIFA 17 in advance of the event. The game will feature the Frostbite Engine, which has been used to power the Battlefield series and others like Need for Speed, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, and Star Wars Battlefront.  (more…)...

With fewer sports games than ever before there's an opening for independent developers to have success with creative unlicensed takes on different sports. Dangerous Golf is the latest to enter that space and it comes from the creators of the Burnout series, and borrows the concept behind its popular Crash Mode. Replacing cars with golf balls and hitting into destructive environments sounds like a recipe for success but unfortunately the fun wears off quickly. Whether it's frustratin...

While basketball fans may be excited that NBA 2K17 will be out earlier than ever before with its move up to mid-September, it only further compresses the window where the majority of the sports games for the year are released. Within a four week span, six major sports games will go out, and there may be even others still yet to be announced. In this episode of the Press Row Podcast presented by Hit the Pass, the discussion centers on what has led to this situation coming about, how it aff...

While there are unfortunately no new Flashback cards being introduced this week, the latest limited-time Diamond Dynasty card pack in MLB The Show 16 includes six players - three of which come from a pool comprised of the best performers from the month of May. At 2,500 Stubs each, are these Players of the Month packs a good investment vs standard packs of spending in the Marketplace? Here's a look at what I got with the four that were purchased....

There's lots of ratings movement in today's roster update for MLB The Show 16. He hit just .200 in the month of May and his Contact ratings in the game have suffered for it. Meanwhile Dodgers phenom pitcher Julio Urias has been added to the game and is rated 75 with A Potential. Other players taking ratings hits this week include David Price (-1 to 93), Fe...

Even without a basketball competitor on the market, and an array of other sports games releasing from the end of August through September, the NBA 2K series continues to push its release date forward and put distance between itself and the start of the actual season - the opposite of what every other sports gaming franchise has done in recent years. Just two years ago the standard for NBA games as mandated by the licensing agreement was to go out on the first Tuesday in October, and no...
