Occasionally I stumble across an article that I think is poorly written or has an uninformed opinion. Most are tolerable and forgettable. This piece though by Stan Donaldson of the Detroit Free Press, a supposed "mini review" of NCAA March Madness 07, is the epitome of poor journalism and a great example of how to make a fool of yourself. Speaking or writing on topics you have no idea about. First of all he states that March Madness 07 is worse than the 06 version. As ridiculous as that s...

Two images of NCAA Football 08's menu screen have found their way out, originating from a post on ncaastrategies.com. Click the thumbnails below to view full size. A couple observations to make from examining these. Obviously these are from the early stages and unfinished, given that Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson is in the pictures while the team listed below is Ohio State. They likely represent the current generation menus, notably these specific ones coming from the PS2 as the b...

A recent article on the Next Generation website went into some detail on the new GamerNet feature that will be unveiled in Tiger Woods 08. The outlook is that GamerNet, and the user created content that it represents, will become prevalent in future titles from the company. We've already seen that materialize with the initial news out on NCAA Football 08. An EA rep said that GamerNet is “not necessarily” something that will be implemented into every EA Tiburon game, but “as for the fu...

The recent media event held at EA Sports Tiburon studio has brought about the first looks at the 08 titles of NCAA Football, Nascar, and Tiger Woods. Within a recent Gamespot article it's also noted that Madden was discussed at the event and it will be a few weeks before any of that information can be revealed. As for Madden, well, we're going to have to wait a few more weeks before we can spill the beans. Without giving anything away, though, I'm happy to report that I appreciated the th...
  • Hot Topic 4/13: The Game Informer preview of All-Pro Football 2K8

The news coming out of the May edition of Game Informer magazine has caused a stir on sports gaming message boards over the last couple days. This is mainly due to an overwhelmingly negative reaction to both the content of the article and the tone in which it was presented. Lack of customization Many fans of the series were expecting 2K8 to have the ability to customize the game to their liking. This was practically confirmed in an interview with Gamespot when the game was orig...
