Gamespot has posted up several new screens from NBA Live 08. Click here for the full set. Could this McGrady one be the best sports game screenshot ever released? I think it might be. Click the image above to view it at full size. They've also posted up their hands-on impressions. EA has added a few more draft related screenshots. A second of Kevin Durant and one featuring Al Horford. The Horford one displays the Atlanta Hawks new jerseys. Head over to the official NBA L...

Thus far a decent amount of information has been released regarding the Wii version of Madden 08. Now IGN has posted up the first true hands-on impressions of the game along with two videos. In general, Wii motion controls are easier to use, so big hits on defense and head-down plowing are simpler and are much quicker in response time. As part of the full Mii incorporation, each player will now use a profile at all times, and the on-screen move indicators will now show the Mii head as well...

IGN has detailed the new "Hot Spots" for NBA Live 08. This is the final in the series of four new features being unveiled for the game. Hot Spots are a visual feature. On offense, you can hold down the Left Bumper or L1 to see a color-coded guide to a ball handlers strengths and weaknesses on the court. Depending on the player, you'll see patches of purple for cold zones, red for hot spots and yellow for moderate areas. These are the spots the player has shown to have the most success. Tha...
  • Madden Community Day Update

Last week I wrote about the upcoming Madden Community Day event which was slated for next week. Unfortunately today I was informed that Madden will not be available and it is being turned into an NCAA Football centric event that includes attending the ESPYs. Putting the news about no Madden aside, this is a nice gesture of appreciation to the NCAA Football community and will essentially represent a "kickoff" celebration for the game being less than seven days before its release. The n...

  • All-Pro Football 2K8: The Special Abilities

Similar to Madden 08's weapons, APF 2K8 has its own set of "special abilities" for players. The complete list of them was recently revealed. These have essentially taken the place of player ratings so it will be critical to have an understanding of them. Overall I like the concept, but I'm curious how well it will work given that APF doesn't use a traditional 0-100 type rating system. There are questions as to how you differentiate between players who have the same abilit...

Previously: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 The next challenge was to beat the Nationals in a 5 inning game, in which a victory would bring the opportunity to steal one of their players. Down 2-1 in the top of the 4th, Marcus Giles tied it up with an RBI double, and then Jose Cruz Jr. pinch hit and got a 2 RBI double to push the score to 4-2. However in the bottom of the 4th, Brian Schneider hit a game tying 2 run HR. In the bottom of the 5th, an RBI single scored the winning run for Washington. Pa...
