The demo for The BIGS has finally made it to the Xbox 360 Marketplace. Originally 2K had stated it would be out during the game's release week of June 26th. The demo features St. Louis @ Detroit in a three inning rematch of last year's World Series. This is the ideal game for a demo. If people give it a chance they'll really find it to be more than just an "arcade" game. It has some sim and strategical elements mixed in. And it simply is a lot of fun to play. Unfortunately...

The first trailer for the Ultimate Fighting Championship 2007 game was released out of E3 this week. Apparently this is not actual in-game footage, it is a target rendering of what they hope to achieve. The game isn't expected to be out any earlier than near the end of 2008. Still though its worth checking out this kick ass trailer and hopefully the game lives up to this. Click here to visit IGN and watch the trailer. ...
  • NCAA Football 08 mid-air collisions

I figured another aspect of NCAA that would be easy enough to show off from the demo would be the mid-air collisions. I went ahead and captured a few in the video below. No longer can a receiver leap to make a catch without worry of getting hit while in the air and having the ball jarred loose while also risking possible injury. ...
  • Update on demo for All-Pro Football 2K8

Today Jeff Thomas of 2K Sports commented on the topic of the demo for All-Pro Football 2K8 by saying that it would be coming "within the next couple weeks". This is unfortunate as the game is already fighting an uphill battle being the second football game released on the same day going up against NCAA Football 08. The demo for NCAA came out earlier this week. Not presenting consumers with an opportunity to try the game out could be costly. NCAA Football is a popular title and a ...
  • Demo for NBA Live 08 coming in September

In a new blog posting, NBA Live 08 Producer Brian Ullrich mentions that there will be a demo of the game released in September. Although he doesn't go into specifics it will likely be available for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.  It doesn't come as a surprise to hear this news, although it is nice to have solid confirmation that the demo can be expected. EA has been giving an extraordinary amount of access to the game with many first-hand impressions, videos, screenshots, and deta...
  • End to “Mario running” in NCAA Football?

A common complaint over the years has been the so-called "Mario running", where a back gets stuck behind lineman and runs in place. This is something that has been addressed by EA for this year and I captured a nice example of the improvement that has been made in this area. In the clip you'll see the ball carrier hit the back of the lineman stopping his momentum and knocking him back. He then starts up again heading through the hole that the line has opened up. I've seen plenty of examples si...
  • NCAA Football 08 gang tackling video

In my impressions I mentioned that the gang tackling was "decent but seems inconsistent". In this video I display what I meant by that with examples from the demo. Overall the gang tackling is certainly a positive addition to the game. It definitely changes some of the outcomes when you compare it to previous years where a ball carrier would fall forward for 5 more yards or just outright break a tackle before another defender could attempt one. However as you'll see in the video there are insta...
  • NCAA Football 08 demo impressions

So after playing several games within the NCAA Football 08 demo, I'm ready to lay out my thoughts on it. The game plays so smooth and is very reactive. You can thank 60fps for that. Have to feel for those who are stuck with the PS3 version. The graphics look very good. Not a huge upgrade over last year but it didn't need one. The improved player models look great. An addition that is probably considered small by most but made me really happy is that when you call an audible, on th...
