EA has sent me over the entire list of classic, all-time, and all-conference teams that will be in March Madness 08. There are 103 total teams available! I begin the list below. Continue on to view it in its entirety. Classic Teams '54 Kentucky Wildcats '56 San Francisco Dons '57 North Carolina Tar Heels '60 Ohio State Buckeyes '66 Kentucky Wildcats '66 Texas Western Miners '68 UCLA Bruins '72 UCLA Bruins '74 NC State Wolfpack '76 Indiana Hoosiers '...
  • Adrian Peterson: Madden 09 cover front-runner

Last year prior to the Madden 08 cover announcement I supported the idea of putting selecting Devin Hester. There was no doubt he was one of the most valuable players in the league and arguably the most exciting. The impact he had for his team was unmatched although in a non-traditional way through special teams. This year it's another rookie that looks like he could be the most appealing option for the Madden cover. Adrian Peterson has quickly established himself as the best RB in the ...

IGN has posted up a hands-on preview as well as three new gameplay videos. Below are a few excerpts and my thoughts on them. The intensity controls that were in last year's title are back again, and perform pretty much identically. You can still build up your intensity meter in an effort to rile up the crowd, your teammates, the other team, or yourself with a quick press of the left bumper and a flick of the right stick. I liked that to a certain extent last year. It helped make the atmosp...

2K Sports has revealed that College Hoops 2K8 will include 90 classic teams. Recently March Madness 08 announced that it will have "over 70". These are pretty good developments for anyone who has followed college basketball for a long time. For College Hoops 2K8, 69 of the teams will be from years past including the 1982 North Carolina Tarheels and the high-scoring 1990 Loyola Marymount Lions. In addition, gamers can choose to play from six all-time conference teams or 15 all-time schoo...
  • ESPN reaches deal with Microsoft for downloadable programming

Microsoft will soon begin offering ESPN programming through the Xbox 360's Live Marketplace. This will include full college basketball and football games within 48 hours of their completion as well as original programming such as Madden Nation and The Contender. Full games: $3 SD, $4.50 HD TV shows: $2 SD, $3 HD While it never hurts to be given more options, I just don't see this being very successful. People watch games live for a reason. Who would be willing to pay that much to catch ...
  • Madden curse En Espanol

As I've written about previously I'm not a believer in the Madden curse. It is often reached for when the media wants an easy article to write. They'll wait on a natural event to occur and then jump on it, as if it was clever that they made the connection. However in this case the coincidence warrants mention. Chargers DE Luis Castillo, who was recently pegged for the cover of Madden 08 En Espanol releasing in December, left the game against the Vikings on Sunday after injuring his knee a...

A new interview with March Madness 08 associate producer Novell Thomas has been posted over at IGN. You can check it out in its entirety here. This entry goes over with the commentary that has been added this year including that of the new sideline reporter Erin Andrews. There is a lot of detail in how they went about recording the audio, what exactly was added, and how it will fit into the game and make the experience better. There is also a some talk about how ESPN integrates into th...
  • NFL Tour to be $10 cheaper than the standard?
    by
    Posted November 3rd, 2007 at 1:37 am 18 Comments »
Gamespot/EB Games now displays NFL Tour as having a price drop to $49.99 with Amazon having added Tour at the same $49.99. This would represent a $10 savings over all the EA Sports titles that have been released for the 360/PS3 so far. Changes such as this only happen when they get specific information. It seems likely that EA will be presenting the new title at a reduced and more consumer friendly price, and other retailers have since followed with the price adjustment. Could this be ...
