The first chance to catch a glimpse of Facebreaker will come early Saturday morning the 9th on Gametrailers TV which airs on Spike at 1am. It should then make its way to the Gametrailers website by morning in case you can't catch it on the show and I'll be sure to post it up here as soon as it becomes available. Considering the release date appears to be late fall this is a chance to get a really early look at the game. There probably won't be much if any actual gameplay footage however i...
  • MLB 2K8 right analog pitching and throwing

IGN has posted a piece detailing the new use of the right analog stick for pitching and throwing as a fielder. While the topic has been gone over in general through previews of the game here they are discussed a little more specifically. Included are some videos that demonstrate what it looks like when completed successfully vs unsuccessfully. If they work as they're supposed to I think both of these changes will add to the enjoyment of the game. Where I lose interest with the right stick...

Gametap has revealed the top 20 players at each position with their overall rating as well as the list of teams ranked in order from MLB 2K8. Expect the Twins to fall and the Mets to rise significantly once the Johan Santana (one of two players to get 100) trade is completed via roster update as they were likely locked in prior to it being completed. 1. New York Yankees 2. Detroit Tigers 3. Boston Red Sox 4. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 5. New York Mets 6. Los Angeles Dodgers 7. Cl...

  • Could one or both baseball games release a week early?

It seems like every year at least one baseball title pushes up their release date a week (back with MVP Baseball it was two weeks). Traditionally the games are originally slated for the first Tuesday in March and then move up to the last Tuesday in February. This is due in part because unlike the NBA where they mandate that their games all release on the same day the MLB leaves the window open. So these companies look for opportunities to get a jump on their competition. As of right now n...
  • Facebreaker tentative release date

    Posted February 4th, 2008 at 3:16 pm 16 Comments »
Gamestop/EB has added Facebreaker into their system and listed it with a tentative release date of November 4th. While this may not end up being the final date it does give an indication of about when to expect it. The initial expectation was that Facebreaker would be out in the fall and this lands in the most open spot based on the several other EA Sports games which come out in those months. That would place it between early October titles such as NBA Live and FIFA and a likely mid-late...
  • Eli Manning makes his case for the Madden cover

Right around mid-season I wrote how Adrian Peterson had positioned himself to be the leading contender for the cover of Madden 09. Along with him there is a decent sized list of players I could come up with who would also get consideration. A few however may have dropped off the list while another entered it after the Super Bowl today. Eli Manning, as Super Bowl winner and MVP, becomes a definite possibility. Until the last game of the regular season no one would've given him any shot. Bu...
